Don’t. Compare. Yourself. To others. The pre-vet journey can feel overwhelming, and extremely competitive at times. After all, everyone around you is trying to get into vet school too! I used to find myself stressing out about what everyone else was doing that I wasn’t. “Well she’s got 5000 hours of clinical experience, and I just started my sophomore year!” “She has WAY more experience with horses than I do.” “How on earth does he have a 4.0?” What does this mindset do for you? It adds unnecessary stress & worry to your life. Instead, know that everyone’s journey is different, including yours!! Just because you’re interested in, have experience with, or are engaging in different things, does NOT make you less qualified. It’s what makes you unique that sets you apart. Be confident in who you are as a person, and as an applicant. Yesterday, I received my official WICHE-sponsored offer in the mail. And a scholarship from WSU. Pinch me. WICHE is a program that allows residents of states/territories without a specific professional program to avail of in-state tuition at partnering schools. There are four participating vet schools: WSU, OSU, CSU, and Midwestern. In exchange, I must return to the CNMI to work after graduating. Which was my plan all along, anyways 🤗 Interested in WICHE? We just wrapped up our 🩻 Small Animal Radiology ☢️ rotation which had been so much fun! You can’t let vet med become your whole life. Take breaks. Keep up with your hobbies. Try new things. Stay connected with people you care about.
