മാട്ടുപ്പെട്ടിയും ഹിൽ സ്റ്റേഷനും ഇക്കോപോയിന്റും മറയൂരും കാന്തല്ലൂരും വട്ടവടയും വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടങ്ങളും തേയിലത്തോട്ടങ്ങളുമെല്ലാം കാണാൻ പ്ലാൻ ചെയ്താണ് എല്ലാവരും മൂന്നാർ യാത്ര പ്ലാൻ ചെയ്യാറുള്ളത്. സ്ഥിരം മൂന്നാറിൽ പോകുന്നവരെപ്പോലും ഈ കാഴ്ചകൾ ഒട്ടും മടുപ്പിക്കില്ല. ഇത്തരം കാഴ്ചകളിൽ ഒരിക്കലും ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ പാടില്ലാത്ത ഇടമായി മാറുകയാണ് മൂന്നാർ ഗ്യാപ് റോഡ്. മൂന്നാർ ടൗണിൽനിന്ന് ദേവികുളം റൂട്ട് പിടിച്ച് ചിന്നക്കനാൽ കടക്കുമ്പോൾ തുടങ്ങും ഗ്യാപ് റോഡിലെ കാഴ്ചകളുടെ പകൽപൂരം.
മൂന്നാർ ടൗണിൽനിന്ന് 13 കിലോമീറ്റർ തേയിലത്തോട്ടങ്ങളുടെയും താഴ്വരകളുടെയും പ്രകൃതിരമണീയമായ കാഴ്ചകൾ കണ്ട് മുന്നോട്ടു പോകുമ്പോൾ വളഞ്ഞുപുളഞ്ഞ് കണ്ണാടി പോലെയുള്ള മനോഹരമായ റോഡിലേക്ക് എത്തും. ഇവിടെ തുടങ്ങുകയാണ് ഗ്യാപ് റോഡ് എന്നു പേരായ, എന്നാൽ കാഴ്ചകൾക്ക് ഒരു ഗ്യാപ്പും കൊടുക്കാത്ത അതിസുന്ദരയിടം. മുകളിൽ പറഞ്ഞ ഗാനത്തിന്റെ ഈരടികളിൽ പറയുന്നതു പോലെ ‘മലയെടുത്തു മടിയിൽ വച്ച മേഘങ്ങൾ’ ആണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ മുഖ്യ കാഴ്ച. മേഘശകലങ്ങളുടെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ മുട്ടുകാട് പാടശേഖരത്തിന്റെ വിദൂര ദൃശ്യം ഗ്യാപ് റോഡിൽനിന്നു കാണാം. ഇവിടെയെത്തുമ്പോൾ മേഘശകലങ്ങളുടെ മുകളിലൂടെയാണു യാത്ര ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്നു തോന്നിയാലും തെറ്റില്ല.
