STOften the simplest exercises humble many an athlete
I’ve coached 1000s of athletes now over the years and the inability to pre tense and react quickly is a skill that I’ve found severely lacking in the majority
Skipping, hoping, ladder drills and multiple hurdle hops is a fundamental skill that often don’t get used and the more ‘visible’ heavy strength work in the gym often takes priority
This is a huge mistake and continues to compound the issue of a lack of ankle stiffness and tendon resilience in older fast bowlers.
Adding these exercises into a RAMP warm up will help greatly
“In addition to the potential to improve performance through more effective force generation, co-contractions may also serve an important role in injury prevention. When muscle slack is removed due to co-contraction it allows for faster corrections after an unexpected perturbation. For example, if when a basketball player prepares for a lateral cutting movement with a co-contraction there is an unexpected inversion of the ankle because they step on another player’s foot this can be corrected by the muscles that are already pre-tensed”
“This ability to co-contract to remove muscle slack is essentially another one of the action capacities we have been talking about. Once it is developed, it creates the potential for the athlete to be more skillful.
“An effective way to develop co-contraction ability in the legs is by using consecutive hurdle hops under time pressure. As an athlete is forced to make quick ground contacts between hurdles, they are training their ability to pre-tense their muscles (through co-contractions) before producing force into the ground. So, we can see, the skillful body is not just waiting around passively to receive commands from the all-powerful brain to act. It is controlling the level of readiness through adjustments in muscle tension. But this involves much more than just removing slack and having a good muscle tone. In an elite mover, the body uses tension in a much more complex and intelligent manner. It doesn’t just tense one or two muscles – it creates an architectural structure through tension! Met so may beautiful people, and I made so many pieces of clothes.
We had such precious “Ichigo- Ichie 一期一会” every single day.
I miss the hustle and non sleeping days and me becoming sewing monster!
I put all my souls into it and made so many pieces of 01/01 pieces for one of a kind you. (At least 600 pieces lol )

JOA weekend to remember @longinesglobalchampionstour there were several moments over the weekend where I had stop and take it all in.
