Because that demarcation line during grow out is brutal & so deceiving. And it makes you think your natural color is something it’s not. But here’s what no one tells you. Everyone’s grow out phase looks rough. Mine did too. And the color pattern you end up with once it’s grown out is almost never what you expect. You can’t judge your silver by those first few inches. This might surprise you, but going a touch deeper with your foundation can actually cover dark spots better. When your foundation is too light, it turns discoloration gray and you end up layering more and more product. On mature skin, that’s when makeup starts sitting heavy and showing texture. I use a slightly deeper cushion foundation because it has enough pigment to neutralize dark spots, while still looking like skin. The key is choosing something cream-based or skin-flexible so it moves with your face, not against it. You don’t need a full face of makeup. You layer only where you need it, build it slowly, and let the product do the work instead of piling it on.
