I'm Anu, I'm a Software Engineer at Google, If I had to start preparing for Google in 2025, Here’s the roadmap I would follow: ☑️ Timeline: → 3 months on DSA + System Design → 3 months on full-stack projects + DevOps + GenAI → 4–5 hours a day is more than enough if you stay consistent. 1️⃣ Pick one language: Java, C++, or Python — choose one and master it. 2️⃣ Learn DSA & System Design: Focus on graphs, trees, recursion, and DP. Read engineering blogs to understand real-world system design. 3️⃣ Master Full Stack Development (MERN Stack): Build projects that cover both frontend and backend (client and server side). Learn how real systems work end-to-end. 4️⃣ Understand DevOps: Learn CI/CD, testing, deployment, and how software is shipped. 5️⃣ Explore Generative AI: Learn how to use APIs from OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, etc., and build projects that integrate these tools. 6️⃣ Mock interviews: Once you’ve covered the basics, start mock interviews (technical + HR) with engineers from Google or your target companies who can give you honest, practical feedback. This journey won’t be easy, and you might face technical roadblocks, time management issues, or self-doubt. Hey, my name is Anu Sharma, and if I had to get into Google in 2026, this is exactly how I would do it 👇🏻 Resumes matter less. Grades matter less. What matters more than ever is proof of work. And projects are the fastest way to get that proof. Here’s how I’d approach it in 2026, step by step: 1. I would stop preparing and start building Instead of just grinding DSA endlessly, I’d focus on building real, usable projects that solve actual problems. Projects that someone can open, use, and understand in 2 minutes. 2. I would use Emergent to build projects faster I’d use Emergent to go from idea to working product quickly. Frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, logic, all stitched together without overthinking setup. The goal would be speed, iteration, and shipping. 3. I would build Google-style projects Not random apps. I’d build projects around search, scale, automation, productivity, data, and AI assisted workflows. Things Google engineers actually work on. 4. I would document every project publicly Each project would have A clear problem statement Why it matters How I designed the system Tradeoffs I made This is what recruiters actually care about. 5. I would turn projects into signals Every project would live on GitHub, be demoable, and be shared on LinkedIn and Twitter. Instead of saying “I’m interested in Google,” I’d show that I already think like a Google engineer.
