Follow @findgoatsongs for more... “Somebody That I Used to Know” is a melancholic breakup song where Gotye looks back at a past relationship that went from intense closeness to total disconnection, turning a former lover into “just somebody” from his past. The sound is sparse and delicate, built around a looping guitar sample, xylophone-like tones, and a restrained vocal that slowly grows more emotional as he describes feeling blindsided and cut off. Kimbra’s response verse flips the perspective, suggesting he is not as innocent as he thinks and highlighting how both people can walk away from the same relationship with very different stories, leaving only a distant memory of what once felt intimate. Follow @findgoatsongs for more... "Somebody That I Used to Know" is a 2011 hit by Belgian-Australian artist Gotye featuring New Zealand singer Kimbra, from his album Making Mirrors. The song draws from Gotye's real breakup experiences, blending melancholy reflection with a hypnotic riff sampled from Luiz Bonfá's "Seville." It became a global smash, topping charts in over 20 countries including the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2012. Gotye (Wouter "Wally" De Backer) wrote and produced it, using xylophone and beats inspired by "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep" for its art pop sound. Kimbra, a fan of Gotye, added the powerful counter-verse after he reached out to her. Song - Somebody That I Used To Know Artist - Gotye ft. Kimbra

En Somebody That I Used to Know de Gotye, él no está procesando la pérdida… “Fui inmaduro” “No supe amar bien.”

Ya yapay zekâ gelecekte her şarkıyı herkesin sesiyle söyleyebilirse? Son zamanlarda Somebody That I Used to Know için tam olarak bunu gördük.

Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye (feat. Kimbra) is a powerful indie-pop song about the painful aftermath of a breakup, told from two perspectives, exploring feelings of betrayal, confusion, and the sudden transformation of a loved one into a stranger, using a distinctive xylophone-driven beat and call-and-response structure. The lyrics capture the frustration of being discarded and the struggle to move on when someone treats you as if you never existed, highlighting how the same event can be viewed completely differently by each person.
