DZWhile testing and porting @colonel_panic_hacks “Flock-You” firmware to other esp32s3 devices I needed a way to test them and ensure they were in fact signaling the detection of a camera. Not wanting to have to drive around until I found a physical camera just for testing, I took the detection criteria in his firmware and used it to create fake BLE packets that can be sent using the Hackrf Portapack saving me time/gas/having to actually leave my house. I will link a github of these test files and also the platformio.ini and main.cpp required to flash a DNkey with the flock detection firmware. I will however warn the DNkey is not ideal as the antenna is tiny and you would have to be almost standing on top of a camera for it to work… but it does work.

GACloned a Text Message from Thin Air
Today I tested a real LoRa replay attack using T-Deck, HackRF One, and MeshNology N37… and the results were crazy 🤯
First, I sent a normal message from my T-Deck to the N37.
Everything worked — the message reached the node, and the live signal showed up in the waterfall.
Next, I powered OFF the N37 and sent the same message again.
This time the message didn’t reach the node, but my HackRF One captured that exact LoRa signal from the air.
Then comes the interesting part:
I replayed the captured signal using HackRF… and the N37 accepted the message as if it just received it fresh on the network.
Even wilder — the T-Deck shows its own replayed message as if it came from another user.
This proves how simple replay attacks can fool LoRa-based systems without proper security.

⚙️ Baseline Settings:
👉 AMP: OFF (0) (enable only if you’re in a low-signal area)
👉 LNA: 32 dB
👉 VGA: 24 dB
👉 Target: 5–10% Rx saturation
⚠️ Your environment matters: if you’re not in a strong-signal region, you may need to enable the AMP to boost weak signals. Just keep saturation under control!
