A 40-year-old high school teacher, Jason Hughes, died after being run over by a pickup truck following an apparent prank at his home in Hall County, Georgia. According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, five young people, all 18 years old, went to Hughes’ house on Friday night and threw toilet paper on trees in his yard. When Hughes came outside to confront them, the group got into their cars and began driving away. Hughes tripped and fell, and a pickup truck ran over him. He was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. Authorities identified the five young people as Jayden Ryan Wallace, Elijah Tate Owens, Aiden Hucks, Ana Katherine Luque, and Ariana Cruz. All five were arrested and charged with criminal trespass and littering on private property. Wallace also faces additional charges of first-degree vehicular homicide and reckless driving. Hughes was a math teacher and coach at North Hall High School. He is survived by his wife, who teaches geometry at the same school, and their two children.
