Get ready for unbeatable crispiness and the absolute perfect fat-to-meat ratio! 🥢 Since opening at FMP in 2024, Cheung Kee has been serving up generous portions of Cantonese and Shanghainese comfort food at affordable prices! Best of all, their English-friendly picture menu takes the guesswork out of ordering authentic Chinese food in Markham 📖 We tried: 👉 Shanghainese Smoke Fish: $16.99 👉 Salted Egg Yolk Deep Fried Chicken Wings: $22.99 👉 Peking Duck ($59.99) + Soup ($10): $69.99 👉 Sweet & Sour Pork: $9.99 👉 Dry-Fried Green Beans with Minced Pork & Olive Vegetable: $15.99 👉 Xiao Long Bao: $8.99 The Shanghainese Smoked Fish absolutely hit the spot 🐟 It’s glazed in a deeply rich, sweet and savoury soy sauce that honestly tastes like the ultimate candied fish stick 🍭 (Just a quick heads-up: watch out for the large bones!) The Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken Wings arrived piping hot with a crunch 🍗🥚 They were generously smothered in a rich salted egg yolk coating that was perfectly balanced—not overwhelmingly salty like you get at some other spots They definitely don't skimp on the Peking Duck! The portion was huge, though the meat leaned slightly on the dry side. A few standout dishes made the meal: the lobster had great flavour and a generous portion, and the sweet and sour pork was crispy, juicy, and easily one of the best items we tried. The vegetable dish with mushrooms was simple but really enjoyable, and we also added half a duck, which turned out juicy and nicely fatty. The beef soup was solid too, though the cilantro flavour was a bit strong for me. Overall, this ended up being better than expected for Ottawa Chinese food. I’d give it a 4/5 and would come back. #ShanghaiOne #OttawaEats #OttawaFood #ChineseFood #OttawaRestaurants

I’m officially obsessed with their Crispy Duck with Taro Mash—it’s a rare find in the city and the texture is incredible! The taro is so chewy and flavorful, perfectly complementing the crispy duck. We also ordered: • Crispy Fish Fillet 🌶️ (Spicy, tangy, and so yummy!) • Flaming Mountain Pork Chop 🏔️ (Talk about a showstopper!) • Pork Rib Soup with Yam & Corn 🌽 (Pure comfort in a bowl.) Known for late night eats, quick takeout, business lunches, shared plates and family celebrations their reputation has engraved their name in Toronto's history. Their goal to reinvent the brand and while doing this keeping to the original Hong Shing we know and love they are introducing their newest menu with halal-certified meats and highlighting Chinese national spirit BAIJIU through creative cocktails and refreshments. They really want to instill the shared dining experience. I love the whole shared plates and group meal, gathering with friends and family with multiple dishes and enjoying a meal family-style. Hands crossing, plates being passed around and food being placed on peoples plates to make sure everyone gets to try everything. Sweet and sour pork? 🔥 Crispy, tender, no complaints. Beef and eggplant sizzling pot? Flavour was there, but kinda watery and light on the beef tbh.
