Remember last week I posted a Reel from business coach Jen Gottlieb, who said Instagram will not be free forever, and that she believes in the near future it might become pay to play?
Well, that near future might be closer than we think 😳
Instagram is literally testing “Instagram Plus” - a paid subscription that gives users several advantages, as you can see in this screenshot.
For now it’s just a test, and it’s only running in the Philippines. Instagram always tests new features on small audiences first to see how people respond.
If the response is positive, they either expand the test or roll it out to everyone.
But whether Instagram Plus rolls out or not - this is not something we should ignore. Because it’s exactly what Jen was pointing at: Instagram will not be free forever.
The platform is getting more crowded. Standing out is already harder. And attention is quickly becoming the most expensive currency on the internet.
Whether it’s this subscription or something else they come up with, the window to build an audience for free is closing. And it might be sooner than we think.
Stop winging it and start taking your Instagram growth seriously NOW.
