Manousos is sacrificed through service, crucifixion imagery, and embodied connection. His knowledge is complete but salvation cannot proceed until Carol decides she is ready. Pluribus reproduces the white savior trope by turning brown bodies into the connective tissue of salvation while white reluctance becomes the drama.

episode 1 of 'asking better questions' is out ✨ does AI have agency? an agency all its own? –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– for the full episode, subscribe to our YouTube channel –> https://www.youtube.com/@limn_ai –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– do AI systems have agency? we tend to take it for granted that agency is a reflection of interiority. of a self that thinks and hesitates and wonders, that eventually makes up its mind and arrives at a decision. we tend to understand agency, that is, as something that requires an openness –- a non-determined space –– on the inside. a space that we have, historically, only granted to living things (and specifically to humans). and AI? arguably, AI systems DO things. they learn, they seem to think, they make decisions, they take action. but … how can something that is apparently non-living, that has no sentience have agency? the fact AI systems have agency often leads to the suggestion (the worry) that AI systems are sentient and alive too. but are they? or is this suggestion (worry) simply reflective of the old assumption that all agency necessarily reflects sentience/mind? an assumption that doesn’t apply? what if AI were an opportunity for us to rethink how we understood ourselves and the world around us thus far? what if things could have agency without actually being alive or having interiority? It was a fragmented, fluid way of trying to grapple with his interiority, and it started like that and basically went on like that. There was never a point where I consciously thought to myself, I’d love to have a go at writing sentences like that. It was always, how do I get the reader to understand what I’m seeing in my head?
