The changing magnetic field induces a current in the shorted secondary ring. This induced current creates its own magnetic field opposing the original field, causing forces on the ring. A smaller ring reacts more violently due to higher induced current density and forces. 2. Material That Is Not Conductive and Is Unaffected A non-conductive ring lacks free charge carriers, so it remains unaffected by the changing magnetic field. 3. Several Thousand Watts of Power Involved in the Spark The high-power electrical discharge generates strong induced currents and forces in conductive rings.
