Days of outdoor adventure near Kanab, Utah November is our favorite time to go lodging is super inexpensive and even though the mornings are chilly it warms up quickly. 🥾Wire Pass slot 3.4 miles- fee required pay at recreation.gov 💡Skylight Arch 2 miles -SUV or better required to get to the trailhead ⌛️Sand (Moqui) Caves .5 miles -easy scrambling required 🐚 The Nautilus 1 mile 🍄Todastool Hoodoos 1.8 miles ⚪️Cottonwood Narrows 2-3.7 miles (road impassable when wet) 🌳Lick Wash 2-4 miles (road impassable when wet) 💦Willis Creek Narrows 2.8 miles (road impassable when wet) 🌕White Pocket 1.2 miles -high clearance 4x4 required due to deep sand 🐉 Belly of the Dragon (tunnel) .5-1.8 miles Bonus: 🎰 Red Hollow Slot 2 miles (last clip) Pro tips: 🦮Dogs permitted 🚨Be sure to research current road conditions and trails as conditions can change for these trails and access roads. ‼️Please practice leave no trace when exploring outdoors. Don’t skip this fun little town only an hour away! 📍 Kanab, Utah The town of Kanab is packed with a ton of fun hidden gems, most of which you can fit into a single day! All of these stops are accessible by any car, no 4WD needed! ⏳ Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park - sand sledding, Off Road Tours, and incredible views! Only $15 a car to enter! 🐉 Belly of the Dragon - a quick easy stop to a tunnel that looks like the belly of a dragon! This was a huge hit with my kids! 🏜️ Sand Caves- this short 1 mile trail leads you up into a beautiful sand cave! It’s a little trick in the beginning of the climb, but even my youngest was able to handle it. 🦖 Dinosaur Tracks (not pictured) - There’s also a short trail (around a mile) to some dinosaur tracks if you have time to make the stop! Send this to someone you’d like to road trip to Kanab with! If you’re new here, we’re the Colon family, a family of 4 that sold it all to travel the country in our 43’ fifth wheel. ✨ You’ve just arrived in Kanab, Utah, an outdoor lover’s paradise in Southern Utah. What adventure do you choose first? 1. Sandboarding at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is SO fun. $15 vehicle entry and $25 board rentals — or take your own. 2. Some of the best Cuban Cuisine I’ve EVER had. The Cubano is AMAZING, as well as the brisket tacos — not to mention the best fries I’ve ever had. 3. If slot canyons are your jam, you’ll have multiple options! Wire Pass to Buckskin Gulch can’t be beat ($6 per person), or try one of the lesser known canyons that are free — Red Canyon (4x4 required and DEEP sand driving experience is a necessity) or Red Hollow Canyon. 4. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary and home to 1,600 adoptable cats, dogs, pigs, horses, parrots, bunnies, and more. We stopped for a free tour and played with the kitties. 5. The Sand Caves are a classic stop and only 1.2 miles RT. Please don’t add to the graffiti within the caves. 6. A stop at Brown Box Kanab is a MUST. I suggest the Kanookie —Your choice of cookie dough, slightly underbaked to gooey perfection in a 6’” skillet topped with ice cream and sauce. This holiday season, I recommend a molasses cookie with eggnog ice cream topped with hot caramel. Holy drool, it’s amazing. 7. Take a walk through Belly of the Dragon. I think social media has hyped this place WAY up — it’s a cool walk through a man-made tunnel, but nothing to drive out of the way for. 8. Can you go to Kanab and not try for a Wave Permit? Every time I go, I can’t help but apply and make daily donation to the BLM. Recreation.gov for more info. 9. Hoodoos and Toadstools are otherworldly and there are so many in this area — two trails I recommend are The Toadstools (1.8 miles RT) and Wahweap Hoodoos (10.5 miles RT) 10. Kanab is located in very close proximity to two National Parks — Bryce (1.5 hours) and Zion (45 minutes) so you’ll never run out of adventures! Hello! Here are a few of my favorites- 📍Peek-A-Boo Slot Canyon- an adventure involving 4WD through sand to a small, beautiful slot canyon 📍Belly of the Dragon- a fun short walk through a unique tunnel (bring a flashlight) 📍Pink Coral Sand Dunes-popular area for ATVs and sand boarding or just sitting back and admiring the scenery 📍White Pocket- the ultimate adventure to the most bizarre and beautiful landscape (must have true 4WD for this one) 📍Check out one of many rock shops in the area. My favorite is the Orderville Mine 📍Toadstool Hoodoos- a short hike leads to several unique hoodoos and balanced rocks 📍Best Friends Animal Sanctuary- volunteer with the animals, tour their 3000+ acre sanctuary, or even adopt a new best friend ➡️If you’d like to see more cool places to explore in Utah, follow @tiff.explores! 🗺️ #exploreutah #kanab #kanabutah #southernutah #roadtriputah

One of our MUST-STOP dinner spots in Kanab 🌵🍽️ We always come to Sego Restaurant @segorestaurant because the flavors are incredible and the ingredients taste super fresh. It’s a fusion restaurant, so you can try a little bit of everything — which is perfect when you’re traveling with family. My kids got the fried rice and they absolutely loved it (clean plates = mom win 😍). If you’re visiting Kanab for hiking, dunes, or a weekend getaway, add this to your foodie list. Trust me… this place is worth it. ¿Un restaurante favorito en Kanab? ¡Definitivamente este! 🌵 Siempre cenamos aquí porque los sabores son únicos y la calidad de los ingredientes se nota muchísimo. I’m not a fan of beach sand (too sticky), but I don’t mind desert sand…until it’s pelting me on a hike 😂 📍 Great Chamber {SAVE for later + FOLLOW for more} ✨ Comment “Kanab cave” for my full guide with coordinates and driving directions (Google Maps will lead you astray!) A 4x4 high clearance vehicle is required to get here, and you’ll be driving through a lot of really deep and really soft sand. Then there is a short hike up a hill of soft sand to get to the entrance of the Great Chamber. There are no bathrooms or facilities out here, so please take all trash with you when you leave. Do not mark on or carve into the walls of the cave. Leave no trace so others can enjoy it. #greatchamber #sandcave #kanab #southernutah #kanabutah

This area is a dog-friendly adventure paradise, and these three short hikes are just the tip of the dreamy iceberg. 👀❤️Stay tuned for a lot more Kanab content to add to your bucket list! ⬇️Details below ⬆️Follow us @pupperscouts & pupperscouts.com for dog-friendly hikes, National Park guides, tips/tricks for hiking & traveling with your pup, etc. 🧡Catstair Canyon - A gorgeous slot canyon that technically requires canyoneering skills to navigate in entirety. HOWEVER, a short (.75 mi round trip) nontechnical hike leads you to two wacky car stacks wired into the rocks. An engineering solution from the 1960’s to guard against erosion under the highway, this landmark is a little bit of automotive history and human creativity on display! NOTE: AllTrails does not have this route. Comment “CATSTAIR”, and I’ll send you the short trail info to find the cars. 🧡Toadstool Hoodoos Trail - A straightforward 1.7 mi round trip hike leads you through a wash, up to a garden of these mind-bending rock formations. It feels like you’re on another planet! (Find all the info on AllTrails) 🧡Sand Caves Trail - A 1.2 mi round trip hike leads you up to this system of tunnels, dug high into the cliffside. These are a man-made remnants of sand mining, now an iconic destination to explore. Note: there is one steep section of trail, where you can hold a rope to assist your up and down climb. No technical experience is needed, but good hiking shoes recommended (Find all the info on AllTrails) Have you hiked any of these? Or are they all going on your list?! 💩Always pick up your pupper’s poop!
