In 1898, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg was trying to make a healthy breakfast for the patients at his spa. One day, a batch of wheat dough was left out overnight and it turned into crispy flakes.
Dr. Kellogg and his brother Will saw the chance to create something special. Will tried using corn instead of wheat and added sugar, making it taste better. That’s how Kellogg’s Corn Flakes were born and became the first ready-to-eat cereal to be mass-produced.
