SHI’ve been using a Kindle forever and I was lucky enough to win a Kobo from @libbyapp_anz! I’ve been using both devices for a couple weeks, here are my thoughts. 💭

🧠 MEMORY/STORAGE 🧠

Regardless of space available on the model, the Kindle after setup only has 1.79GB taken, whereas the Kobo uses 3.54GB just to set up.
🎧 AUDIOBOOKS 🎧

Kobo plays audiobook using Bluetooth and Kindle doesn’t. I’m not a big AB reader but when I do it chews through my phone battery so this could be a big pro for some people.
💳 LIBRARY ACCESS 💳

THIS has been the main reason I’ve been considering switching to Kobo. In Australia we can’t access Libby with a Kindle and I hate reading ebooks on a phone screen. note: if you have several library cards, you can only log in with one at a time so you need to switch between them.
👆 RESPONSIVENESS 👆

Ghosting and lag is expected and both models have moments where it might take a second to turn a page. I found the Kobo regularly doesn’t respond to a page turn - so you try again and it turns 2 pages. This happens 2-3 times for every hour that I read.
👓 ACCESSIBILITY 👓
Both models have great options for screen brightness, font and text size. I do find changing these settings is quicker on the Kindle but not enough to sway me one way or the other.
📖 NETGALLEY 📖

This is easy. @netgalley is designed with Kindles in mind and 99% of the time you can send it to your device with one click. To send NG books to a Kobo, you need a computer to download a program and plug your Kobo in to copy the file over. If anyone would like me to show this process I can.
🔋 BATTERY LIFE 🔋

I charged my Kobo once 2+ weeks ago and it’s 75% full. I don’t use it as much as my Kindle but still daily. My Kindle needs a charge every week with daily use. Both charge in an hour.
My conclusion is I actually think the @kobobooks Libra would be the *perfect* ereader for me!! I’m just scared to invest and regret it. 💰😵💫

THPOV : you got a kobo and love it ✨
I have had the Kobo Libra Color for a few weeks now and the more I use it the more I like😁
here are just a few things that I am loving about it right now 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
🍓 The buttons to turn pages!!
✨ The color!! Obviously not a must or available on all devices but definitely a plus
🌿 It is so much easier to change background/wallpaper on this than it is on Kindle - and you can set it to automatically scroll through wallpapers you have each time you power off
🍓It keeps track of your reading stats directly on the device for each book 🤯
✨ You can change the brightness by swiping on the left side of the screen - actually a game changer!
🌿 There are many more fonts directly on the device and more ways to customize them even more for a comfortable reading experience
🍓 This is specific to the Libra Color but I LOVE being able to annotate right on the page!!
✨ Colored highlighters which means you can better organize all your notes
🌿 There is a progress bar on bottom of screen that moves as you go through your book which helps to see how far you have left
🍓 Books borrowed from Libby (Overdrive) show directly on your Home Screen - no jumping through hoops to get or return them!
✨ Quickly switch between books swiping down from the screen
I have so many more things I am really liking about it🤭

JAfinally a detachable magnetic case for the Kobo readers. I love that the cover detaches magnetically so it’s protected when I need it, but easier to read and see my stickers or inserts and use my pop grip when I’m reading. It snaps closed, wakes automatically and also turns off to save battery. #KoboLibra #EReaderAccessories #kobocase #detachablecase #magneticcase
