monster’s u is probably (imo) the best monster’s inc movie in the series (second runner up is the first movie, ofc). I’ve always loved this moment though, when squishy lassos the grumpy sully out of from his sulking to experience some much needed joy.

I spent faaaaar to much of my life sitting in the corner sulking (being angry, being bitter, being miserable, being ungrateful) and missing the joy that comes through knowing Christ alone.
but vanessa, how can you have joy amidst all of life’s horrors? amidst all of the suffering? amidst all of the chaos? how can you ignore reality?

much like you, I too see it all and grieve it all. this world is heavy. but if you let it dictate your joy, well, then you’re in for a sad life, my friend.
the joy of the Lord IS my strength (nehemiah 8:10).
Christ doesn’t tell us to ignore suffering, or mute it.
He teaches us how to suffer well.
how to carry on even when the world feels dark and chaotic. how to find strength when we are weak. and how to find joy amongst all the grief.
