It’s from the 2008 guitar documentary It Might Get Loud, where Page, White, and The Edge sit and play/compare styles. • The Edge asks Page about Kashmir — specifically its sound and how it came about. • Page explains the idea **came from experimenting in D-A-D-G-A-D tuning — a drone-like tuning he’d used before that gives the riff its eastern, modal feel. • He says part of it had originally been in another tune (“Swan Song”) — the tiny bit at the end that became the central Kashmir riff. • Page then grabs his guitar and demonstrates the riff live, with White and Edge listening/playing along — White looks visibly excited by it. This is one of the few candid moments where you see Page walking the others (and the audience) through not just how the riff sounds, but how he thought about it musically. #jimmypage #ledzeppelin #guitargod #rockhistory #musicdocumentary

“Stairway to Heaven” was originally released by Led Zeppelin in 1971 on the album Led Zeppelin IV, becoming one of the most influential rock songs of all time. Built around a slow acoustic progression that evolves into a powerful electric climax, the song is often cited as a defining moment in classic rock history. A notable curiosity: in 2012, Heart performed “Stairway to Heaven” at the Kennedy Center Honors as a tribute to Led Zeppelin. Ann Wilson’s emotional vocal delivery, combined with a full orchestra and choir, moved the band members themselves to tears, turning the performance into one of the most iconic tributes ever captured in rock history. #LedZeppelin #Heart #stairwaytoheaven

YOU GOT THE LOVE I NEED - Led Zeppelin perform “Over the Hills and Far Away” live at Madison Square Garen (1973). This evolved from the Yardbirds song “White Summer,” an acoustic solo by Jimmy Page. Many of the same riffs and chords are in it. After The Yardbirds broke up, Led Zeppelin continued to play “White Summer” live. Page and Plant started writing this track in mid-1970, after returning home from their Spring tour of North America. They were staying at Bron-Yr-Aur at the time, the small historic cottage in Wales where they wrote much of the material for Led Zeppelin III and more. The song had a working title of “Many, Many Times”, as evidenced by the photo of the Houses of the Holy rough mixes tape box on the Led Zeppelin website. The lyrics to “Over the Hills and Far Away” are centered around finding love and meaning in life through experience and learning along the way. Plant’s vocals seem to relish in the fact that love has been found — whether this is the final love or just the “right-now” love is yet to be determined — but it’s worth trying, despite how many times he has been hurt in the past. Led Zeppelin’s 1973 performances at Madison Square Garden were among the most iconic live rock moments in history, cementing the band’s mythic status at their commercial peak. Spread across three sold-out nights in July, the shows captured Led Zeppelin at maximum power - extended improvisations, thunderous riffs, and a rare intimacy despite the massive arena. Jimmy Page’s ferocious guitar work, John Bonham’s seismic drumming, John Paul Jones’s musical versatility, and Robert Plant’s commanding presence turned each song into an event. The concerts were immortalized in The Song Remains the Same (1976), blending live footage with fantasy sequences and helping define the spectacle of stadium rock. These nights at MSG didn’t just showcase Zeppelin - they redefined what a rock concert could be. The last live performance of “Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin. This historic reunion—featuring Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Jason Bonham (son of John Bonham)—marked the band’s final full performance together. Led Zeppelin perform 'Kashmir' live at the Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert at London's O2 Arena from the concert film 'Celebration Day'" "Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world." “Kashmir” is one of Led Zeppelin’s most powerful and atmospheric tracks, released in 1975 on the album Physical Graffiti. Built on a hypnotic riff by Jimmy Page, thunderous drums from John Bonham, and orchestral strings, the song creates a vast, mystical soundscape. Despite its title, Kashmir isn’t about the Kashmir region itself—it was inspired by Robert Plant’s travels and the feeling of endless deserts and distant horizons. “Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin was released in 1975 on the album Physical Graffiti. Built on a hypnotic, modal riff and powerful orchestral arrangements, the song stands apart from traditional blues-based rock, creating an epic and almost cinematic atmosphere. A notable curiosity: despite its title, “Kashmir” was not inspired by the region itself. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant wrote the song while traveling through the Moroccan desert, and Page often cited it as one of Led Zeppelin’s greatest achievements, calling it the band’s ultimate statement of power and grandeur. #LedZeppelin #Kashmir #classicrock
