If you’re not progressing, you’re just repeating. And repeating can lead to overuse injuries fast 🤷🏻‍♀️ Progressive overload prevents that. Progressive overload isn’t just “lift heavier.” It’s strategy that you can use both in the gym or your living room. Here are 5 simple ways to apply it: 1. Add weight 2. Add reps or sets 3. Slow the tempo (more time under tension) 4. Use drop sets or supersets 5. Reduce rest between sets ‼️Strength is built by giving your body a reason to adapt. If the stimulus never changes, neither will you. You don’t need fancy equipment. You need intention and a plan. Once upon a time, pole was all about training big tricks and combos. And I predominantly did my big strength moves on my strong side only 🤷🏻‍♀️ The result? I was constantly over trained and my body felt completely out of balance. These days I’m spending my pole time re-building foundations…on both sides! Sure, it feels good to throw some of my of favorites now and again. (Hello shoulder mount plank and iron-x 😜) But it feels even better to be able to do them on both sides now. These days, pole training is just for fun, not accomplishment. And training in general is for longevity, not accolades. Now, you could keep trying to lift yourself up using bands or exercise balls. But that’s just not enough for most folks.
