Made this simple linen set out of an IKEA bed sheet when I was first starting to sew. First made the #linntee and then the #belskirt by @elizsuzann and they work so well together. I shot this in my friend Cynthia’s studio where she does cyanotypes and photography. She was actually my photo teacher in high school and now one of my dearest friends. Check out her amazing work @cynthiakatzstudio. I came away from my visit so inspired and full of ideas. I mean, who wouldn’t be inspired in that space and by that work? Curious about the accessories? I told a neighbor in the park who was also wearing floral pants while walking her dog that it clearly was fancy pants day! I am so excited! @elizsuzann released three new patterns last week - Linn Tee, Maxine Crop and Bel Skirt. The patterns have been in the works for a long time and I am so happy they are finally out. The patterns took time to put together as the instructions were streamlined and are now more printer-friendly. The style of the illustrations was also slightly changed to match the new instructions. I loved the challenge of coming up with a way to make the illustrations look hand-drawn yet still have the ability to scale and change them as needed, which comes with a vector drawing and not a hand drawing. As always, it was fun to see how the garment construction used in home sewing sometimes differs from production sewing. Also, the pocket construction on the Bel skirt kinda blew my mind. It results in a super clean finish and the seams are still pressed in the proper directions. It is *chef’s kiss* perfection, in my opinion. 😗 Working on these has been a pure pleasure, a dream come true. I can not wait to see your guys’ take on these three patterns! I’m so excited about the printer-friendly improvements we made to our instruction booklet and I love sharing these super simple, beginner-friendly styles. Also, a HUGE shoutout to @anna.zoe.sewing who does the illustrations and digital design of our pattern files and instructions. Its always a herculean effort to get all the details just right, and she nails it! Working with her is a pleasure.
