Familiarising themselves with different technological tools that can be used by students to create solutions for the problems they want to solve is an important aspect of teacher preparation.
This exposure to Makerspace enables teachers to unlearn current beliefs that tinkering and making is only for a few and helps them see that if design thinking is encouraged and is integrated well with other curricular areas every child can become a problem solver and creator.
PGDLT residents had a stimulating day at the Heritage Makerspace where they used different technological tools to create innovative products and walked the group through the process.
They also discussed the role and guiding principles on which Makerspace functions with the Makers team, many of whom are PGDLT alumni.
