_C“Back in my day we didn’t use to bother about workload”
Managing workload is become more and more common and rightly so
But it’s often brushed off as assuming it’s stopping children from doing anything
That’s missing the point
And at the other end of the spectrum, it’s taking it to the extreme and treating children like a fragile piece of glass
Which also misses the point
It’s about making sure we expose children to the right stuff, with adequate rest, in a progressive & gradual way so that when they need to perform that action at 100% in a game, they can do it to the best of their ability & safely
It’s important coach, player & parent are all aligned on what “managing workload” actually means and how you’re going to implement that strategy to give the player the best chance
