On 9 March 2026, around 18 lakh students appeared for the Class 12 Maths board exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. But something unexpected shocked students after the exam.
The QR code printed on the question paper, which is normally used for security verification and to prevent paper leaks, reportedly led to the famous song **Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley when scanned.
Students quickly started sharing videos, memes, and reactions online after realizing they were “Rickrolled” — a classic internet prank where a link redirects to the iconic 1987 music video.
While some paper series reportedly showed only a letter code, others allegedly opened the viral video link. The incident quickly turned exam stress into a nationwide meme moment, with social media flooded with jokes about the unexpected twist during one of India’s most important board exams.
So was this a technical glitch, a misprint, or the biggest exam troll ever? CBSE has not officially commented yet.
