CO7 Things You Should Never Share With Your Children
Even if they ask.
Because we should not just be raising children.
We should be raising emotionally grounded humans.
And sometimes that means choosing their safety over their curiosity.
Yes, they may ask.
They may want details.
They may even feel ready.
But not everything is meant for their heart to carry especially when it’s still learning how to beat with confidence and security.
1. The full weight of your financial struggles.
They don’t need to feel like a burden to become grateful.
Security first. Maturity will follow.
2. The intimate details of your relationship problems.
It’s okay to say, “That’s between adults.” Protect their peace, not other people’s feelings.
3. Your pain with extended family members.
If it’s unsafe, protect them always.
But don’t pass on your hurt to justify distance.
Let them grow up with discernment, not resentment.
4. Personal trauma you haven’t healed from yet.
Share your wisdom, not your wounds.
Raw pain passed down becomes inherited trauma.
5. Adult emotional burdens.
They’re not your therapist.
They’re still learning who they are don’t make them carry who you’ve been.
6. Gossip or adult secrets.
Even if they ask. Even if they overheard.
Let their childhood stay unburdened by drama they didn’t choose.
7. Unfiltered anger or emotional explosions.
Even if you “just need to vent.”
They absorb everything.
Say it somewhere else.
Say it later. Just not to them.
This isn’t about hiding the truth.
It’s about guarding what their hearts are ready to hold.
Because children can be curious and still be too young.
They can be smart and still be emotionally soft.
Let them grow with wisdom.
Not worry.
Let them learn from you not carry you.
