Viele denken: „Es schläft doch, ich störe ja nicht.“ Aber: Das Licht eines Bildschirms besonders blaues Licht kann die Melatoninproduktion beeinflussen. Melatonin ist nicht nur das „Schlafhormon“. Es steuert den Tag-Nacht-Rhythmus und ist eng mit der nächtlichen Ausschüttung des Wachstumshormons verbunden. Gerade in den ersten 2–3 Stunden nach dem Einschlafen findet die intensivste Tiefschlafphase statt. In dieser Phase wird besonders viel Wachstumshormon ausgeschüttet. Wenn Schlaf regelmäßig durch Lichtreize gestört wird, kann das langfristig die Schlafqualität beeinflussen. Und Schlafqualität ist – neben Genetik, Ernährung und Gesundheit ein wichtiger Baustein für Entwicklung und Wachstum. Das bedeutet nicht, dass eine einzige Nacht „Schaden“ anrichtet. Aber Gewohnheiten, die sich über Monate oder Jahre wiederholen, können einen Unterschied machen. Deshalb achte ich persönlich darauf: • Nachts kein helles Handylicht neben dem Kind • Bildschirmzeit vor dem Schlafengehen reduzieren • Auf eine möglichst dunkle Schlafumgebung Nicht aus Angst. Your pineal gland in your brain releases melatonin when the sun sets to tell your body it’s time to sleep. It spikes 2-3 hours before your physiological bed time. So if you’re popping your melatonin 5 min before falling asleep it likely won’t work. Instead, you’re better off taking it a few hours before bed time!
