DRThe shape and size of the ear can have a significant impact on self-confidence and self-esteem. If the outer ear is significantly underdeveloped at birth, as with microtia, it affects many aspects of a child’s life. Microtia can negatively impact body image and disrupt personal and social development. However, ear reconstruction can prevent the psychological and social difficulties associated with this condition by allowing the child to feel “normal.” We recently completed treatment for 10-year-old Eymen, who was born with unilateral microtia. He was very cooperative throughout the treatment and was a great help to all of us. We are grateful for his patience and cooperation, along with his loving family.
