DRTHANK YOU to the MiddleGround Capital team for hosting @farmerschoolofbusiness Entrepreneurship students! My goal was to organize an off-campus experience for our @miamioh_entrepreneurship students at MiddleGround Capital. This experience would push them to practice curiosity, build relationships, and step confidently into a real business environment. Experiences like this help our students grow as #beyondready leaders and strengthen our internship/post grad pipeline through the Altman Scholars team.
Students met the VP of Human Capital and team members across several departments, learned about upcoming opportunities, and practiced their professional presence from the moment we arrived on the MiddleGround campus. We wrapped the day with reflections and lunch at @cohatchcommunity before exploring the @findlaymarket to see entrepreneurship in action. A special thank you to @staceylynn0810, the foundation of Altman Scholars, for supporting our students and helping us grow the cohort that strengthens the Altman Scholars experience.
I am proud of how our students showed up and grateful to be at an institution that invests in experiences like this. A big thank you to MiddleGround Capital and Zach Miller for hosting us and giving students a meaningful look inside the MGC! HEIf you’re tired of feeling shut out by your teenager, it doesn’t have to be this way and there are realistic ways to change it!
I felt this a year ago as things got distant and decided it was time for a change. I researched and put in the work and it changed everything!
Here’s EXACTLY what I’d do if I wanted to be more connected by summer!
1. Embrace this stage — even the parts I don’t understand.
The slang, the moods, the weird middle ground, leaning into what is feels better than resisting what I don’t get.
2. Remembering that loving their friends is part of loving them.
Their people matter as much as they do, and showing interest sends the message: “Your world matters to me.”
3. Saying yes more often.
Yes to last-minute plans. Yes to short hangouts. Yes to parking lot chats after practice. Those yeses add up.
4. Praise more than correction: 4:1 ratio of praising before correcting. They are painfully aware when they mess up, you rarely need to point it out.
5. Showing up without an agenda.
Not every conversation needs a goal — sometimes presence itself is the message.
6. Creating small moments like lunch or coffee dates.
Short, intentional time together without heavy expectations.
7. Sending appreciation texts that aren’t reminders or corrections. Simple notes that say, I see you; I’m proud of you.
8. Exploring their interests — even if you don’t fully get them. Curiosity opens doors that advice never will.
9. Asking better questions instead of yes/no ones.
Questions that invite real answers and make space for connection.
10. Stop the constant advice. I know we’ve lived a whole life and have a lot of answers and it FEELs like we are helping when we share but most times they just want to vent and are completely capable of solving the problem!

It’s easier to raise $10 million than to raise $1 million.
It’s easier to become a millionaire than to make $100,000 per year.
This phenomenon, often called the paradox of ambition, happens for a few reasons.
First, there’s less competition at the top.
Most people aim for the middle ground, convinced they can’t achieve greatness.
This creates more competition to become a millionaire than to earn $100 million annually.
But the bigger reason? 10x goals shift your mindset.
Instead of thinking incrementally, you’re forced to innovate, break constraints, and discover entirely new paths to success.
So don’t settle for the middle.
Aim higher, and dream bigger; you might find your goals are easier to achieve.

SAGet @reshare_app • @emily.sanders.therapy Here are some thoughts on trying to create a middle ground with emotional and physical boundaries.
This may be especially important if you have a parent with a significant mental illness, personality disorder, addiction, is abusive, or extremely emotionally immature. Often if one of these factors is present, more than one is present!
(This content can also apply to parents attempting to navigate their painful relationship with an adult child.)
A few thoughts/ nuances:
• sometimes full cut-off IS the only way to create safety, sadly.
• sometimes you need to go full no contact to be able step into limited contact.
• you don’t need to announce to your parent that you’re going low contact; that creates more conflict and is unhelpful. You just do it intentionally and with personal conviction/clarity.
• You may need to set clear boundaries with certain subject matter: “I do not want to discuss my finances; if you bring it up again I’ll need to hop off the phone.”
• regardless, it’s important to do you own healing work to be able to navigate this relationship.
