You need to know this! The Tome Curves is one of the most powerful tools in Lightroom but can be scary to use. Here's the thing. It's actually not that scary. I think of the Tone Curves as quadrants. You have blacks, shadows, midtones, highlights and whites. Adjusting those sections will brighten or darken your image and affect your contrast. What else do you want to learn? I was asked to make a lil video about where, how to decide the direction, and how how dark to cross hatch. Instead of making 3 separate videos, I condensed it into 1 30 second video, you’re welcome🤗 I hope it helps ☁️Outline your shadows first - the more noticeable dark areas, and then the mid tones. ☁️Direction - I usually start vertically through the whole thing, except where the lightest tones are, i leave that empty, and then draw horizontal and diagonal lines keeping agreement with the 3D form. If you’re not sure about how to identify the 3D forms on the face, I have a separate videos about studying the planes of the face that could help steer you in the right direction. I’d suggest practicing drawing random shapes and then adding contour lines to them to give them dimension. ☁️How dark - well it depends on your reference/light source. For the dark shadows, draw lines that are closer together and alternate direction to get darker and darker values. Lines farther apart = lighter values. Practice hatching and cross hatching on a scrap paper to loosen up and experiment before you commit to your actual drawing 👍🏽 #howtodraw #arttutorial #crosshatching #hatchingart #arttips #artportrait #crosshatchingart
