THCastlebar Mitchels GAA and LGFA, in partnership with ClubSpot Events, are staging the club's inaugural Quid
Game - a high-energy fundraising event inspired by the global phenomenon Squid Game (with all the fun and none of the danger!). Taking place next Saturday, July 19th at An Sportlann, this will be a night to remember as 31 daring contestants compete across six thrilling games for a €10,000 grand prize.
Doors open at 7pm and tickets are now on sale! Come along to cheer on the contestants, enjoy the buzz, and
experience a night of fun, games, and community spirit like no other. It’s a ticketed event, open to all with music, a great atmosphere, and an afterparty disco that’ll keep the energy going late into the night. Quid Game puts a unique community twist on the TV show’s format, replacing risk with skill-based challenges focused on accuracy, endurance, and patience. Expect edge-of-your-seat entertainment, plenty of laughs, and a fantastic night out for everyone.
All proceeds will go toward vital upgrades at An Sportlann, benefiting not only Castlebar Mitchels GAA and LGFA
members but also local groups including basketball, racquetball, karate, hockey, Foróige, and Advance Driving
Instructors (ADI), all of whom use and rely on the Mitchels facilities.

Thank you for inspiring me and so many others, for being our team mom even when we were all just kids. Too many good times and trips and laughs. Thank you for being someone I looked up to, someone I could say anything to, and get an honest answer back whether that’s what I wanted to hear or not.
Thank you for being you, the biggest extrovert known to human kind, and accepting me as the total opposite, but gently pushing me to always get out of my comfort zone. I think Erin would agree
Always inspired by you as an athlete. I always envied how you had the perfect understanding of hard work, motivation, rest, and fun. Something maybe obvious, but I think to be able to trust your process and yourself 100% is not a given or very common. You always found a way to put it all together, all while enjoying everyday to its fullest, and making an effort to appreciate the people in your life, and make them feel nothing but valued and important.
It’s been special staying close even when our careers took us apart, knowing I still had my people and my team, having my back and cheering me on. It’s been cool watching you transition into speed, confident and calculated, and make your way back to the top and be competitive with the best in the world.
Love you Mitchels, thank you for being there through it all. Hard to imagine growing up without you and our team, grateful I don’t have to. Thank you for all you did for me, and for ski racing.

The Hood Kitchen is the brainchild of Anwaar, who was inspired by his parent’s life-long careers in the food industry despite no formal training. His passion and attention to detail are apparent.
Motivated by his father’s dream to bring industry and development to an often-overlooked part of Cape Town, the hood kitchen is about more than burgers. It’s about community upliftment, but to achieve that, the burgers need to be banging.
The Kitchen, which is Halal, occupies the back part of their property where at the start of the working day they begin the prepping process, starting off with my order of a double gourmet burger which I’ll rate out of 10
The burger, which goes for R120, has lettuce and red onion with lemon, creamy blue cheese sauce, double beef patty, double sliced cheese, and triple-fried wedges.
But how does it taste?
filled with rich, savoury flavours, with pure beef patties delivering a juicy and robust taste. The creamy blue cheese sauce adds a luxurious and tangy element, perfectly complemented by the freshness of the lettuce and the sharpness of red onion. The double-sliced cheese contributes a melty, indulgent layer, while the dash of lemon provides a refreshing zing that cuts through the richness. The triple-fried crisp potato wedges complete the experience with a satisfying crunch, making every bite a delightful balance of textures and flavours.
