I moved from England to Scotland over 12 years ago and here are my 4 pros (but I’ll be honest there’s SO many) and 4 cons from my own personal experience: Pros: 1. The diversity of the landscapes is just unreal- mountains, lochs, castles, beaches, I just love how you don’t have to drive far to see all of these in the same day! 2. Lower cost of living than places like London or where I’m from in Dorset. But, obviously cost of living is still just ridiculous everywhere right now 🫠 3. The people are SO friendly and also- there’s just less people in general than in England, so you can go to so many places and it be so quiet in comparison to lots of spots in England. 4. There’s so many hidden gems across Scotland. Once you start looking, you realise how much there is to offer up here! Cons: 1. You have to be prepared for all weathers all year round. I’ve had snow in May once but also the summers are getting much hotter and just lovely. 2. Where I live in Moray, you do have to be prepared to travel a little bit further distance wise to get to some places. Some people just love the convenience of city life and having things right on their doorstep, which isn’t the case in all parts of Scotland. 3. The winter days are very short which some people don’t like. We get an hour less sunlight than where I’m from in Dorset. But, on the flip side we get much longer nights in the summer so I guess it evens itself out? 4. Depending on your career, there may not be as many job opportunities as other places, and it can feel remote. I’m Micky btw. Follow along as I explore Moray and more! When a moray eel eats too much, it may become lethargic, less responsive, or even hide away in its habitat. Digestive discomfort can make them less active than usual, and they may exhibit signs of discomfort such as stretching out or rubbing against objects in their environment. Moray eels tend to eat as much as they can get, but it‘s important for them to maintain a balanced diet to prevent such issues. ✍️🎥 @fitjuergen To learn more about ocean wildlife and conservation, follow @oneoceaneducation @oneoceanconservation #oneocean #oneoceandiving #oneoceaneducation #oceanresearch #oceanconservation #oceanfacts #morayeel #marinewildlife #sharkid_alyssa

I swam for my life 😂 Moray Eels are quite territorial and I got a little too close so it felt the need to warn me. I learned after that their jaws are incredibly strong, with sharp teeth and they can rip your fingers off really easily. Their mucus can also cause serious infection. Lesson learned! 😅 #morayeel #sealife #underwater #animalencounter #maldives #travel #traveler #ocean #snorkeling #marinelife

The Leopard Moray eel (often referring to Gymnothorax favagineus, also known as the Honeycomb or Laced Moray) is a fascinating, large-spotted marine fish found in the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They are beloved by photographers for their striking appearance but are actually shy, nocturnal hunters. Here are some fun and surprising facts about Leopard Moray eels: "Alien" Throat Jaws: Like all morays, they have a second set of jaws called "pharyngeal jaws" located in their throat. When they catch prey, this second set of jaws shoots forward to grab it and pull it down their throat, similar to the creature in the Alien movie franchise. They Don't Yawn, They Breathe: They are frequently seen with their mouths open, but they are not threatening you; they are simply breathing. Lacking gill covers (opercula), they must constantly pump water through their mouths to pass it over their gills. They Tie Themselves in Knots: To gain leverage when tearing up large prey or to get a better grip, Leopard Morays will actually tie their own bodies into a knot. They Have Poor Eyesight, Amazing Smell: Morays have tiny eyes and poor vision, relying instead on an acute sense of smell to hunt, often acting as "underwater bloodhounds". They "Clean" Their Teeth: They are frequently found at cleaning stations in coral reefs, where shrimp and smaller fish (like wrasse) enter their mouths to pick away parasites and leftover food. Cooperative Hunters: Some moray species are known to hunt in partnership with groupers, flushing prey out of narrow cracks that the grouper cannot reach. They Are Not Actually Snakes: Despite their long, serpentine bodies, they are true bony fish. Gigantic Size: They are one of the largest moray species, capable of growing up to 3 meters (almost 10 feet) in length. They Don't Have Scales: Their skin is smooth and covered in a thick, protective mucus layer that helps them slide through tight rock crevices. Shy but Dangerous: They are not generally aggressive towards divers and prefer to hide in caves during the day. However, their teeth are backward-pointing to ensure prey doesn't escape, making a bite very painful and prone to infection. Unique Pattern: @gopro @nando__div
