JAWe visited Multnomah Falls yesterday… in the rain… on a Sunday… and basically had the entire place to ourselves 😳🌧️
For context, Multnomah Falls is the second tallest year-round waterfall in the United States, plunging a total of 620 feet in two dramatic tiers.
It’s located in the Columbia River Gorge just outside Portland and is easily one of the most photographed natural landmarks in the Pacific Northwest.
But here’s the thing… everyone checks the weather and stays home.
The drive through the Gorge with low clouds hugging the cliffs, fog drifting between the trees, and rain hitting the windshield genuinely felt like I was in Twilight 🌫️🌲
And then we walked up to the viewing platform and there was almost no one there.
Rain in Oregon doesn’t ruin the experience, it is the experience 🌧️ The moss is brighter, the water is heavier, the cliffs feel moodier, and the mist makes everything cinematic.
No crowds.
No chaos.
Just pure PNW magic.
Moral of the story: don’t cancel your plans because of rain.
Sometimes it gives you the whole waterfall.
