MO“Lily Pads”
This painting can currently be found at The Grandover in Greensboro, NC.
“Lily Pads” is inspired by the beautiful lakes and ponds that surround my neighborhood and the peaceful scenery of Higgins Lake.
I love capturing the rich green reflections on the water and using my palette knife to build the high texture of the lily pads as they decorate the surface of the pond.
These bodies of water are full of life and home to so much beautiful wildlife; from the graceful white egrets to the striking blue-gray herons that often visit to fish this beautiful body of water.
Moments like these are what inspire me to paint the quiet beauty that surrounds us every day.

SAThink Westerly, Rhode Island is just beaches? Think again…
There’s something really special about finding beauty right where you are.
I was just talking to my aunt about her upcoming visit this summer — she’s been here many times, so I’m always looking for something new to share with her… something meaningful.
I had my eye on the Westerly Museum of American Impressionism — and then, perfect timing, I received an invitation from South County Tourism to experience it.
And it was… peaceful in the best way.
This museum, which opened in October 2025, brings together American impressionist works from the 1880s–1920s — with galleries that move through New England artist colonies, coastal scenes, florals, and all four seasons.
Even surrounded by a group, it felt quiet. Grounding. Like a deep breath.
One of my favorite pieces was “Harbour Beach” by Louise Upton (1915) — I’m so grateful to Cynthia Sculco and Thomas Sculco for creating a space like this for the community.
Add this to your must see in Rhode Island list.
I am so glad this museum is in Westerly - sometimes joy looks like slowing down long enough to notice what’s already around you.
And stay tuned… I have the perfect lunch spot post museum.

MIMatilda Browne was an American Impressionist artist noted for her flower paintings and her farm and cattle scenes. In her paintings, she often depicted this house, the colonial-era house in Old Lyme, Connecticut, where she lived for four years in the aftermath of the First World War. Working with a vibrant palette of yellows and greens, Browne captures the age and charm of her gambrel-roofed house, its tree-shaded yard, and its old-fashioned beds of roses and hollyhocks in full bloom. The untitled view of the yellow house with yellow roses invites viewers into a fleeting summer moment, while its gentle nostalgia evokes a time already slipping into memory.Matilda Browne made repeated visits to Old Lyme over more than a decade before purchasing what she described as an “old-fashioned homestead” in the heart of the village. By 1911, she had joined the artists working in the once-grand mansion on upper Lyme Street and shared studio space in a “rickety” old barn with Ellen Axson Wilson, the artist wife of Woodrow Wilson.
