EM🇳🇴 NORWAY IN A NUTSHELL 🏞️👇🏼
If you're going to Norway for the first time and want to see as much of the country in a short time, I definitely recommend doing Norway in a Nutshell!
It's a self-guided tour run by @fjordtours_com that covers highlights of the country in one go, using 100% public transport so it's a great sustainable way to see it! 🌎💚
The route is self-guided and flexible so you choose exactly where to go and how long for (I've put our full itinerary below ⬇️) The online planning tool is super easy to use and very helpful! 🗺️
Because you're using public transport, you definitely COULD book each leg yourself without buying the NIN package. HOWEVER, it's only about £30 cheaper and it's much more convenient for them to do everything for you!
MY PERFECT 5 DAY NORWAY ITINERARY 📝
✈️ Day 1: You can start from anywhere but I recommend picking Oslo or Bergen so you can do the full Bergensbana railway (worth it for the scenery). I started in Oslo as the flights were cheaper to there than Bergen!
🚆 Day: 2: Get the train from Oslo to Myrdal, which is half of what is continuously voted as one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world!
There's 5-6 trains a day and takes ~5 hours. We got the midday train to give us a couple of hours to explore Oslo before (tbh I don't think you need more than this). The views are SPECTACULAR (Sit on the left hand side of the carriage as you board from Oslo) 🏔️
At Myrdal, switch to the Flåmsbana; one of the steepest railways in the world which takes you to the beautiful fjord village of Flåm 🏞️
🏊🏼♀️ Day 3: We broke up the journey with 2 nights in Flåm so we had a full day to relax and explore. It's a great stopover as it's about halfway on the route and there's LOTS to do; Stegastein viewpoint, fjordsauna, waterfalls, shops and restaurants!
🚢 Day 4: Cruise down Aurlandsfjord to Gudvangen. This was a real highlight of the trip, jaw-dropping scenery 🤯 Pick up a bus to Voss and then hop on a train to Bergen (You'll get in at ~3ish so you'll have the rest of the afternoon to explore the city!)
⛵ Day 5: Explore Bergen and fly home

CAIf you dream of visiting the Norwegian Fjords, the Norway in a Nutshell tour is a great way to see it. We booked a 1 day Norway in a Nutshell tour from Bergen to Oslo which followed the below route:
⛰️Bergen to Voss via train
⛰️ Voss to Gudvangen via bus with a stop at Stalheim viewpoint
⛰️ Gudvangen to Flam via boat cruise
⛰️ Flam to Myrdal via Flamsbana train
⛰️ Myrdal to Oslo via train
