ELIt was almost mine.
I once thought I’d become a nun, but then I got married instead. Here’s why:
In college I discerned joining the Sisters of Life—I was so attracted to their deep intimacy with Christ, joy in His love, and service of others.
The vocations director encouraged me to finish getting my degree and graduate before revisiting, but shortly after graduation, my guy, best friend confessed his feelings for me and we went on a date the rest is history!
While I eventually felt led by Jesus to date and marry the man who is now my wonderful husband rather than become a nun, I am so, so grateful for the time I spent discerning religious life. It wasn’t a mistake, it isn’t weird to want to be a nun, and no vocation is inherently better or holier than another! The holiest thing we can do is God’s unique will for our own unique souls, and truly, His will is better than our wildest dreams!! 🫶🏻
