SAI think I’ve just found my new favourite obstacle course race!!
This is what an OCR should feel like... tough, a bit chaotic, and actually fun the whole way through. Oh and the scenery, it was so beautiful. One minute I'm slogging up a hill questioning my life choices, the next I'm gazing around with wide eyes. (We ran up the hill behind me).
Big, unrunable hills, proper deep swamps, swinging tyres, a random shoe throwing and the slip and slide doing what it does best at the end — you can race it or just try not to lose a shoe, it works for all abilities and ages.
And they nailed the vibe off the course too. Spectator area was pumping all day — heaps of clever, family-friendly games, live music, food trucks… just a really good atmosphere from start to finish.
Such a great day out.
I’ll be back next year.

We’re on the hunt for an epic crew of volunteers to help bring Aotearoa Toa to life again. If you were part of it last year, you already know the vibe — high energy, awesome people, and front-row access to all the action 🙌
