SLIPERU–ILISHAN ROAD ENTERS FINAL ASPHALTING STAGE
The Ogun State Government has announced that the reconstruction and dualisation of the Iperu–Ilishan Road has reached a major milestone, as engineers have commenced the laying of binder and wearing course asphalt across sections of the corridor, marking the project’s entry into its final stage.
The 5.3-kilometre strategic road, which links Iperu to Ilishan and provides a critical connection to the Gateway International Airport and the Sagamu–Benin Expressway, has progressed beyond earthworks, extensive drainage construction, and stone-base layers. With active asphalt works now ongoing, the road is visibly taking its final shape.
Providing an update on the project, the state government noted that steady progress has been recorded so far, including the completion of major drainage systems and stabilised base courses, laying a strong foundation for long-term durability. When completed, the road is expected to significantly improve mobility, enhance safety, reduce travel time, and boost commercial activities for communities along the corridor and airport-bound commuters.
The government further stated that with the completion of the Iperu–Ilishan Road and the Sagamu–Sapade Road, the Gateway International Airport will become one of the most easily accessible airports in Nigeria, seamlessly connected from the North, South, East, and West. According to the state, this integrated road network is central to its strategy to position Ogun State as a major logistics, aviation, and investment hub.
The Ogun State Government reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a high-quality, durable road that meets top engineering standards and supports its broader infrastructure and economic development agenda.

DAWe are delighted to provide an update on the ongoing reconstruction of the Akute–Lambe–Agbado Road in Ifo Constituency II, Phase 1, covering a 9.2-kilometre stretch, including sections of major adjoining roads.
So far, commendable progress has been recorded. Scarification of all failed sections has been carried out, involving the removal of defective asphalt and the excavation of unsuitable materials. These have been replaced with quality backfill sourced from the borrow pit, thereby ensuring a solid and lasting foundation for the new road.
In the next phase, our engineers will proceed with replacing all remaining unsuitable materials with quality laterite, followed by drainage excavation and construction. This crucial step will guarantee effective water flow, prevent erosion, and sustain the durability of the road.
Our commitment goes beyond simply constructing roads—we are delivering resilient infrastructure that enhances ease of movement, promotes commerce, and improves the daily lives of our people in Ifo Local Government and across Ogun State.
This project is yet another clear demonstration of our ISEYA agenda in action—building our future together, one community at a time.
