When buying fish oil, the most important thing to understand is that “Total Fish Oil” is mostly filler. If a bottle says “1000mg Fish Oil” on the front, it doesn’t mean you are getting 1000mg of the good stuff. The actual health benefits—for your heart, brain, and inflammation—come exclusively from the EPA and DHA content. Most standard fish oil capsules are only about 30% Omega-3s. The other 70% is composed of other fish fats, glycerols, and fillers that don’t provide the specific benefits you’re looking for. Here is the difference between high quality and low quality fish oil . • Low Quality: 1000mg Fish Oil = 180mg EPA + 120mg DHA (300mg total Omega-3). You’d need to swallow 3–4 pills to get a meaningful dose. • High Quality: 1000mg Fish Oil = 400mg EPA + 300mg DHA (700mg+ total Omega-3). Concentrated “triple strength” oils let you take just one pill. Let me explain you what is the difference between EPA & DHA. While they work together, they have slightly different “specialties.” EPA’s primary role is to fight systemic inflammation and it is best for Lowering triglycerides, supporting cardiovascular health, and improving mood or depression.
