By using the internet, patients can prepare for appointments, fill in gaps in their knowledge, or follow up on issues that were raised in the consulting room but left them with unanswered questions.
This is especially important for people suffering from rare chronic illnesses, as they often have to deal with doctors who have never heard of their illness or know very little about it.
It can however be difficult to discuss online information with doctors as many of them have doubts about the quality and usefulness of the information available.
How to make it work?
~ It sounds obvious but you need a good, open relationship with your doctor (if it is not the case, you might want to consider changing doctors).
~ Tell your doctor you have been looking online, but ask for their feedback on the information, and for any useful sites they know of.
~ Make sure to bring some reliable online health information: Information found on condition-specific sites, support organisation sites, medical journals and reputable clinics sites is more likely to be taken seriously by your doctor than information found on Facebook, online forums and chatrooms.
~ Include in the conversation how and why you think your findings might help in your diagnosis/treatment.
~ If necessary, remind your doctor that healthcare should not be a spectator sport — it’s best practiced in a participatory manner.

(but must also be done in conjunction with strength training!)
However, as a parent you might fear implementing this style of training with your young athlete because you don’t have the knowledge on what/ how to implement them.
Plus, you may struggle to get any consistency as you lack ideas on progression and implementation with your child.
And that completely normal.
One of the main bits of information I can give you is to accumulate a high volume of lower intensity plyometrics.
Think of them as the foundations.
Focusing on building those foundations with good volume and consistency of plyometrics along side jumping and landing exercises…
And your young athlete will be well on the way to improving performance, reducing risk of injury, & preparing them for the demands of sport!
