TYThe world’s first opalized flower is about to exist and I literally can’t believe it. This step has been crucial in creating opalized specimens. I’ve tried a lot of methods to control where the opal wants to settle and form. It tends to run down the edges of the jar so I thought what if I gave it something to run down in the middle of the jar and ALSO directed straight toward the thing I’m trying to opalize!? I set up 4 different samples to test and every single one had similar results. The opal solution aggregated and started to glob and run down the glass stir rod directly onto the object I’m trying to opalize. The world’s first opalized flower is about to exist. All I do now is wait and hope the flower structure doesn’t interfere with the opal formation.
