🎤 Ever wondered why opera singers can fill an entire hall without a microphone? It’s not about volume. It’s not about force. It’s about breath and position of the voice. Luciano Pavarotti explained it perfectly: the sound is carried by a trained diaphragm, not by the throat. Just like a child can cry for hours without losing the voice, because the breath is doing the work — not tension. In classical singing, the diaphragm stabilizes the airflow, supports the tone, and allows the voice to travel effortlessly over an orchestra. Without it, singers push. And pushing always has a limit. With it, the voice stays free, resilient, and sustainable — even through long roles and demanding evenings. ✨ Opera singing is never about shouting. It’s about intelligent breath management. If you want to understand how diaphragmatic support really works and how to train it correctly, I am sharing all that and way more value inside my free community. If you want to join just comment Community below and I’ll send you the invite. #OperaTechnique #DiaphragmaticBreathing #LucianoPavarotti

In opera singing, a low larynx is essential for producing high notes correctly, just as it has always been throughout the history of the art form. You can actually see it on my own Larynx floating down on this short clip. The truth is, the mastery of keeping the larynx not just low but also flexible—allowing it to ‘float’— is a cornerstone of the classical vocal technique. This concept of a “floating larynx” isn’t new; it was championed by legends like maestro, Luciano Pavarotti, that with his own words insisted and empowered the need of a low larynx as a must for opera singers, or Franco Corelli, who epitomized the ideal operatic technique with his powerful and nuanced performances. The key is in understanding that while the larynx’s position is foundational, it’s not about forcing it down artificially, unless you are in the training stage of your vocal journey. It’s about training it to naturally sit lower through targeted exercises that, admittedly, can be quite rigorous. These exercises are not universally applicable but tailored to the specific needs of a singer’s voice. Caution when seeking vocal training advice online. The web is crowded with self-styled vocal coaches who may lack a deep understanding of classical singing. Taking their advice without careful consideration might lead to misinformation and could potentially harm your voice. Therefore, it’s important to seek guidance from reputable sources and understand that techniques like those taught by the “Old School of Singing ™ “ exemplified by maestros like Corelli, Mario del Monaco, and under the pedagogical lineage of Arturo Melocchi, require dedication, understanding, and respect for the physiological aspects of singing. 🎤 Patricia Janečková — Pie Jesu She was 25 years old when she died. Cancer. Without warning, without time, without a public farewell. Patricia Janečková recorded hundreds of videos, filled concert halls, sang opera on three continents — and disappeared silently on October 1, 2023. 🕊️ Most people knew her at age 12, when she won a talent show on Slovak television. Long hair, a child's dress, a soprano voice that seemed out of place in that body. The audience was speechless. The judges called her a prodigy. She smiled, thanked them, and continued singing. What nobody knew: she had started studying opera singing at age 9. Not because someone forced her. Because she heard "The Phantom of the Opera" and decided she wanted to sing like that. No music school, no family of artists. Just a Slovak child who chose one of the most demanding careers in the world — and worked silently until her voice was ready. 🎶 This "Pie Jesu" was recorded when he was 18 years old. His voice was no longer childlike. He had control, maturity, a sweetness that didn't depend on age. There's a note around 2:10 that sounds suspended—not forced, not rehearsed, just pure. It's the kind of sound that makes an entire room hold its breath. She died before she was 26. He left behind hundreds of recordings. No public farewell. Only music—and the certainty that some voices don't need decades to leave a mark. 🎤 Patricia Janečková 🇸🇰 Voice type: Soprano Date of Birth: 18/06/1998 date of death: 01/10/2023 🎼 Pie Jesu — Requiem Composer: Andrew Lloyd Webber Composition date: 1985 Does this give you chills 🕊️ or tears 💔? Phew, the secret’s out… 🤷🏻‍♀️ Keep slaying, ladies, in whatever manner you see fit. Loved when @angelinajolie reminded us how opera singing is one of the few spaces where, as women, we’re not just allowed but ENCOURAGED to be loud as hell. Anyone (male or female) who hasn’t tried it and needs to let out some steam, give it a go. Comment LESSON to work 1 on 1. Opera singing doesn’t come from force or suffering. It comes from ease, coordination, and freedom. When the voice is free, you can shape it into legato, build intensity, and still sing beautifully on top. Opera was never meant to sound tortured. It should sound beautiful. And the voice should feel free.

Oh boy do I love when some one comments on one of my vocal technique reels and says I shouldn’t be using chest voice…lol! Suuuure! It makes me laugh! No seriously though…I have put out a lot of info lately about use of the chest voice for female opera singers and I hope it has been helpful for you! Opera singing needs that chest voice connection, so when ever I see a comment from some one telling me I am wrong, I just shrug and say, ok! I believe you… But nah, I really don’t! 📸 @matthewhollerphoto 💄 @melissa_colletteartistry 🩷 @lululemon

🎉 🎶💖 90 years of passion and teaching – Homage to Maestro Vito Maria Brunetti 🎶 Being present at the 90th birthday of Maestro Vito Maria Brunetti was a privilege and a great joy for me. At ninety years old, the Maestro continues to passionately transmit a singing school that has marked history. His teaching is based on the support and lunge technique developed by the Italian maestro Arturo Melocchi, then passed down by Leo Ferri, and today carried forward with passion and rigor by him. Among Melocchi’s students we remember the tenors Mario del Monaco and Franco Corelli. 🎶 Who was Arturo Melocchi? An Italian pianist, teacher and vocal pedagogue, Melocchi revolutionized the technique of opera singing by introducing a method based on low and diaphragmatic breathing and the use of the “chest” voice even in the highest registers. His technique allowed a powerful and natural projection of the voice, without forcing, and formed some of the most legendary voices of the 20th century, including Mario Del Monaco and Franco Corelli. A technique that, if learned correctly, not only respects the physiology of the singer, but enhances his vocal authenticity, offering solidity, expressiveness, breadth and stage presence. Among the students of Maestro Brunetti, today esteemed performers on the international scene, we find the tenor Samir Pirgu, the baritone Giulio Mastrototaro and Nicola Ulivieri, also a baritone, each living witness to the vitality and strength of this vocal school. 💬 “The voice is a gift. But it is also a path of awareness. The teacher’s task is to free it, not to modify it.” – V.M. Brunetti Thank you Maestro, for these 90 years lived in music and for continuing, even today, to form hearts and voices. #VitoMariaBrunetti #90YearsMaestro #MelocchiTechnique #LyricalSinging #SamirPirgu #GiulioMastrototaro #NicolaUlivieri #NaturalSinging #AuthenticVoice #ArturoMelocchi #VocalTeaching #Opera #nicolaulivieri #saimirpirgu

🗣️❤️‍🔥🎶 Extreme Opposite Vowel Balance for Opera Singers! Are you struggling with mastering vowels in your singing technique? In this clip, I break down a crucial concept from two legendary masters of vocal technique. Giacomo Lauri Volpi revered the A vowel as the foundation for achieving a strong and resonant I, while Arturo Melocchi emphasized the depth of the U vowel for creating a rich, full sound. By combining these approaches, you can unlock the key to a powerful, balanced voice that shines in classical singing. Watch to discover how these techniques can take your opera singing to the next level! 🗣️❤️‍🔥🎶 Giancarlo Monsalve proudly bringing back The Old School of Singing® step by step, voice by voice. Can’t wait to share some of the cabaletta, too!!
