Die Opposition erwartet keine entscheidende Entlastung von den stark gestiegenen Preisen an den Tankstellen durch das geplante Senken der Spritsteuern. „Selbst mit Rabatt zahlen die Leute massiv drauf“, sagt Linke-Fraktionschefin Heidi Reichinnek im Bundestag. Die Preise für Kraftstoffe seien aber deutlich stärker als um 17 Cent gestiegen. Union und SPD brachten einen Gesetzentwurf ins Parlament ein, mit dem die Steuern auf Diesel und Benzin befristet für zwei Monate um rund 17 Cent pro Liter herabgesetzt werden sollen. Angestrebt wird, dass dies vom 1. Mai bis Ende Juni gilt. Bei einer vollen Weitergabe an den Zapfsäulen könnten Autofahrer und Betriebe so um 1,6 Milliarden Euro entlastet werden. Die Grünen-Fraktionsvorsitzende Katharina Dröge sagt, die Koalition habe eine Maßnahme gewählt, von der man wisse, dass sie eben nicht zu 100 Prozent an die Verbraucher weitergeben worden sei. Geschärfte kartellrechtliche Regeln würden kompliziert und wirkungslos sein. Bei knappem Angebot und höheren Preisen müsse man auch über Energiesparen reden. AfD-Finanzexperte Kay Gottschalk forderte unter anderem eine Mehrwertsteuersenkung für Mineralöle. Rednerinnen und Redner von Union und SPD verteidigten die Pläne als schnell umsetzbare und wirksame Entlastung. Über den Gesetzentwurf soll als Nächstes in den Ausschüssen beraten werden. Angestrebt wird, dass das Gesetz dann in der nächsten Woche im Bundestag beschlossen wird und sich am 24. April abschließend der Bundesrat damit befasst.
