1. Death is not the Opposite of Life
For Osho, the opposite of death is not life, but birth. Life is the substratum that contains both.
* The Cycle: Birth and death are like the two shores of a river.
* The Illusion: He taught that we fear death because we identify with the body and the ego, both of which are temporary. If you identify with consciousness, death becomes as natural as changing clothes.
2. Death as the Ultimate Orgasm
Osho often used provocative metaphors to describe the transition of death. He viewed it as a moment of total let-go.
* Total Relaxation: He argued that if a person lives a life of total awareness, death becomes the "ultimate peak" or a "great sleep" where one merges back into the source.
* Celebration: This is why Osho’s followers (Sannyasins) are known for celebrating death with music and dance, viewing it as a homecoming rather than a tragedy.
3. The Art of Dying
Osho maintained that you cannot die beautifully unless you have lived beautifully.
* Awareness: The quality of your death depends on the quality of your life. If you live in a state of "unconsciousness" (running after desires), death will feel like a robbery.
* Meditation: He described meditation as a "voluntary death"—a way to practice letting go of the ego while still in the body so that when the actual moment of death arrives, there is no fear.
