Ladies — your menstrual cycle isn’t just about your period. It’s a complex monthly journey made up of four distinct phases — each with its own hormonal shifts, symptoms, and purpose. 💫🩸 Dr. Chantel Roedner, WakeMed OB-GYN, guides us through it all: 1️⃣ Menstrual Phase: The first day of your period and lasts about 3-7 days. Symptoms could include mood swings, fatigue or irritability. 2️⃣ Follicular Phase: Begins on the first day of your period and ends at ovulation. In this phase, hormones are increased and you might be feeling more productive and happy! 3️⃣ Ovulatory Phase: Typically happens around day 14 of a 28-day cycle. This phase comes with an increase in self confidence, energy and mood as hormones are higher. 4️⃣ Luteal Phase: Lasts from about day 15 to day 28. The luteal phase can cause a wide range of emotions from serenity to an emotional storm. Mood changes are happening, cravings are higher and you might be feeling more tired, groggy or upset. Not every menstrual cycle is the same, and understanding your cycle is a powerful step toward understanding you! 🩺 Learn more in our latest WakeMed blog — link in bio! . . #WakeMed #WakeMedOBGYN #WomensHealth #MenstrualCycle #CyclePhases #HormonalHealth #OBGYN #WellnessMatters

Your Skin Cycle Explained! - Follicular phase - When your period ends, your skin starts to clear up because estrogen is rising. However, too much estrogen can also trigger breakouts here. - Ovulation - Your skin is at its best because estrogen is at its peak. If you are sensitive to hormone fluctuations, you could also breakout before the day you ovulate. This is just because of testosterone rising which is increasing libido in case you are trying to get pregnant. - Luteal phase - Skin is getting oilier because of progesterone which is the dominant hormone in this phase. - Few days before period - Skin starts to breakout because testosterone is higher. This hormone produces sebum which is the oil in your skin that aggravates your acne. - Overall, these are ways you can prevent these large hormone fluctuations to wreck havoc on your skin. Seed cycling is a nutritional remedy that helps support hormones during each phase and helps mitigate symptoms of hormonal acne, PMS and more! - Seed cycling is part of Acne Bootcamp but also can be done separately! - DM us if you would like to chat more about seed cycling!💕 #periodbreakouts #hormonalacne #postpillacne #acnenutrition #acnenutritionexpert #acnenutritionist #hormonalacnetreatment #menstrualcycle #seedcycling #clearskin #foodforskin #foodforacne #foodforacneproneskin #acnetreatment

Your cycle & training explained 👇 This might explain a few things for you ~ Don't forget to SAVE so you can refer back to it later 💾 The following is based off a 28 day cycle 🫶🏻 1. Follicular Phase (the time from your period to ovulation) Days 1-12 Research has found that strength training during this phase resulted in a higher increase of muscle strength compared to the rest of your cycle. In other words: DON'T skip strength training before ovulation! 2. Ovulation - Days 13-15 Women are 3 to 6 times more likely than men to have injuries. Studies have found that the risk was highest in the days leading up to ovulation, when estrogen is high. So it's worth doing a longer warm up & not overstretching during your fertile window. 3. Luteal Phase - Days 16-28 Don't beat yourself up in the second half of your cycle. Progesterone levels rise significantly, your body temperature is higher (by at least 0.4 degrees celcius), this is the time your body is preparing for a potential pregnancy. As a result, you might find you have less endurance, you might not be able to hit max lifts and you may feel worse during your training. So, don't judge your results and performance in this phase alone! • #workhard #workout #menstrualcycle #gymgirl #getfit #getstrong #exercise #personaltrainer #period #health #women #cycle #livelifefully #bodyfitness #womenwholift #womenshealth #training #trainhard #fit #fitness #fitspo #instafit

The education I received about the menstrual cycle as a teen to early 30's never really explained that there were only 6 days each cycle that pregnancy could occur. These 6 days are called the fertile window. It occurs 5 days prior to ovulation and 24 hours after ovulation because sperm can live up to 5 days in the vaginal canal. An egg, on the other hand, is only viable for up to 24 hours. And ovulation only occurs once every menstrual cycle. I'm shedding light on this plus so much more in my offer today - In the Flow Masterclass. This package includes an in demand webinar, comprehensive workbook, seed cycling guide, and hormone-friendly recipes specific to each phase of the menstrual cycle. It's available until only tonight until 11:59pm PST for $33. Oh and you have the opportunity to add on some hormones testing as well if you want.
