MOI need help picking fabrics…and I know you all have opinions! 😜 I’m about to start cutting for my next quilt pattern (I’m sooooo excited about this one!) and I can’t decide on which background…solid ivory or a speckled ivory? AND which accent color? Dot chambray or rainbow chambray? I’m not good with making decisions and because of that, allllll of those little florals are probably going to make their way into the quilt. The more the merrier, right?! I’m already getting all the feels from the vintage vibe this version of the pattern has!

THSpoiler Alert: You can easily get the look of patchwork quilting without the headache of matching up your seams!!
I’m going to show you how!
Lay your squares out in even rows onto lightweight, fusible interfacing.
Press with a hot iron. Then fold your first row RST and sew using a 1/4” seam allowance.
Press all seams to go the same direction. Then snip to the seam at each intersection but do not snip into your sewing!
Fold your other rows of squares RST and sew!
Press seams down and you are ready to go! Simple & quick patchwork that looks like it took you hours!!

My favorite way to make bags, pouches, and other accessories is to make them quilty, and QAYG is ideal for using up scraps that are too precious to throw out, but still not very big.
I was intimidated by this technique at first, but it is so fun and easy and I’m excited to share it with you!

But my absolute HACK to making patchwork quilts is to keep 5” (or whatever your preferred size square is) on hand. I have a full bin of 5” squares in all the colors of the rainbow. That way, when I need to make a quick quilt (like this baby quilt), a huge chunk of the work is already done! 💃🏻
A friend of mine is having a baby and is due any day so I’m trying to quickly make a baby quilt. However, she didn’t find out what she is having so I’m going to be making a girl quilt and a boy quilt!🙃 But I love her and am happy to do that!
I’m sure you’re thinking, “procrastinate much?” and my answer would be “yes.” 😂😂 What can I say? I am what I am.
ALSO, I love using the webbing method when piercing a patchwork quilt together. In fact, I have a step-by-step tutorial for this technique and I’ll send you the link to it! All you have to do is comment “chain pieced” below and I’ll send you the link in your DMs! 🙌
