PCT Day 27, May 4, 2026: 21.3 miles (with no trending audio) ✨ Today was easy, breezy, and beautiful! I’ve heard the desert section of the PCT called the “Pacific Carpet Trail”, and today definitely felt like hiking on a red carpet. Pimento’s ankle is still bothering him, so he decided to stay behind and hike slower and catch a ride to Wrightwood in a few days. Early in the morning, Alan from the Joshua Tree Inn began loading hikers in his hatchback with his homemade pack trailer on the back. We managed to get on the second shuttle and were on trail by 7:30am. The trail was mostly flat and smooth sailing all day, Truffles and I did 14 miles by noon. Since we were moving along so fast, we decided to take a long break and have pizza delivered to the Rio Baranca Valle group campground. Truffles and I ate a whole pizza while waiting for Pinky and Hangman. Once they got arrived and ate their pizza, Hangman told us he was having some foot pain and they decided to hitch to Cajon Pass so he could rest. Truffles and I only had 6 more miles left for the day and meandered our way down the trail. We ran into Pathfinder, Stryder, and Michelin and chatted a bit. The weather turned south and we were grateful to get the tent up just as it started raining. Just about ready for the NOBO PCT Class of 2026! Papa Bear is warming up the grill for his signature pancakes, and we've got the shuttle ready to roll, starting this Saturday February 28th - May 31, for our 5th Season shuttling hikers to the PCT Southern Terminus! We've got ALL your logistics covered so that your first steps on the trail are worry free as they can be. With a convient pick-up at the Old Town Transit Center twice a day (0930 am / 2 pm) and a stop at REI for those last minute items you couldn't travel with or have forgotten, followed by a stop at the Green Store (fresh food, a beverage and that lighter tou weren't allowed to bring on the plane) and then up to the Southern Terminus of the PCT and/or CLEEF. Best yet, your drivers (Just Paul, OneSpeed and Marmalade) are ALL experienced thru-hikers and can answer all your questions (well, maybe not the airspeed of an African Swallow 🤔), but seriously anything revolving around thruhiking and especially the PCT we got you covered.
