For over a decade, I lived with excruciating colon pain that slowly took over my life. Pain that no doctor could understand. It started as occasional discomfort but became constant, unbearable agony that made every day a fight just to survive. I saw over 40 doctors who all said the same thing: “No inflammation. Labs are normal. Your colon looks great.” But my pain so bad I fainted daily and felt like I was being torn apart from the inside. By 2024, I was ready to give up, I even pursued the Dying with Dignity program because I didn’t see another way out. A doctor told me it was time to go to a teaching hospital. Twice I traveled across the country to the Cleveland Clinic, hoping for answers, only to be told, “There’s nothing we can do. You might have pelvic floor dysfunction, but there is no cure. Then, one last specialist looked deeper. Tests finally revealed slow colon motility, obstructive defecation, severe pelvic floor dysfunction, and endometriosis on my rectum and all my bowels. My colon wasn’t working — stool was getting stuck, and my body was raping me from the inside.* ***I wanted to add a couple sentences to clarify because I’ve gotten some really mean comments. This is not a metaphor. I was sexually abuse for 12 years of my life and I was raped anally. Between the rape and the endometriosis, my rectum does not open, causing my stool to build up and then all of a sudden push out involuntarily… which led to raping me from the opposite side. This is proven by doctors and this is also coming from a sexual abuse survivor. Unfortunately, it’s not an exaggeration or a metaphor. I ask that you respect my privacy… this isn’t really the point of the post nor is it something I want to focus conversation on right now. The only option was surgery, a colon bypass and ileostomy. It’s been a few months, and honestly, this surgery saved my life. This is the journey behind the pain no one saw.❤️ #ileostomy #ostomy #endometriosis #pelvicfloor #chronicillness

💩You’re constipated… and Miralax, magnesium, and Metamucil don’t do a thing? 💩That’s not “normal constipation.” That’s your body waving a giant red flag. When the basics don’t work, it almost always means one thing: 👉 You’re dealing with a root-cause issue — not a fiber problem. In my practice, these are the patterns I see over and over in clients who feel backed up, bloated, puffy, and stuck: • Slowed motility from stress or vagus nerve dysfunction • Methane SIBO or other hidden infections • Hormone shifts (thyroid, cortisol, progesterone) • Electrolytes out of balance, so magnesium doesn’t actually work • Pelvic floor dysfunction • Inflammation or histamine overload freezing the gut • Gut lining + microbiome issues that stool softeners can’t solve Here’s the good news: 💥 Once we identify what’s actually driving your constipation, things finally start moving. Literally. If you’ve been stuck in the cycle of trying supplements, Googling symptoms, or being told “drink more water,” you don’t have to keep guessing. This is exactly the work we do at ISN — we investigate, test, and create a plan that gets your gut working again. If constipation is affecting your comfort, energy, or daily life, it’s fixable — you just need the right roadmap. 👉 DM “CONSTIPATION” to learn what working together would look like or tap the link in my bio to book a consult and finally get things moving. #dietitian #nutritionist #functionalmedicine #integrativenutrition #guthealth #guthealing #healthygut #bloating #bloatedstomach #bloatedtummy #bloatingtips #bloatingremedy #bloatingrelief #ibs #ibsc #constipationrelief #constipation #acidreflux #digestiveissues #digestion

👀 Wanna know what is poisoning our kids? 😵‍💫Sitting inside staring at screens like zombies… wasting away with growing waistlines… medicating our “low mood” with pills and ultra-processed crap food… sitting on our bums. 🍎 Yes… FOOD is MEDICINE 🦗 But!…. Why the crickets? 🚴‍♀️ MOVEMENT is MEDICINE too!! Especially for postpartum moms. If MAHA truly wants to look out for kids… and I believe the commission does…. Why are they neglecting postnatal women? Supporting kids means supporting new moms. It’s synonymous. Other countries overseas do a better job nurturing moms through the new stage when our little ones are imprinting on us the most. Access to pelvic floor dysfunction tools, postpartum help that goes beyond pills, community groups, etc. Let’s catch up with the rest of the developed world. Why is there silence when it comes to our kids’ PE and sports programs getting cut? 🤱 Why isn’t MAHA talking about postpartum women not getting the healing support we need like women get in Europe? Birthing women deserve pelvic floor PT and core rehab provided by trainers. It’s covered overseas… why not here. Ridiculous. Then new moms are told to take a pill to help with postpartum. Some… not all of course… but some cases could be avoided completely with healing fitness support. Full stop. 💊 If we really want to get Americans “un-hooked” from anti-depressants and chronic disease meds… 🍃 Give Americans the tools to go get some fresh air and move their body. 💰 Guess what?? It can be largely free. FREE! 🏫 Tell the schools to stop cutting PE and school sports! There are ways to keep costs wayyyy down and get more movement into their day. 🏃‍♀️ Teach young girls it’s cool to be fast runners… and it’s cool to have muscles! 🤱 And make access for pelvic floor and core PT more attainable for new moms (like it is in Europe). Help new moms heal so they don’t get hooked on postpartum anti-depressants.

“Don’t work your abs during pregnancy” is outdated advice and it’s part of why so many women struggle with diastasis recti, pelvic floor dysfunction, and a longer recovery. Research shows that proper core training during pregnancy can: 🫶Reduce severity of ab separation (diastasis recti) Improve core-pelvic floor coordination 🫶Support better posture and breathing mechanics 🫶Lead to smoother labor and faster postpartum healing This isn’t about crunches, it’s about functional core work that trains your deep core, breath, and pelvic floor to work as a unit. The right training now supports you during pregnancy, delivery, and recovery. #natalapp

There is hope ❤️ When pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms present in our lives, it is easy to think & feel that certain things we have to say goodbye to forever. This is exactly how I felt nearly 8 years ago when I was diagnosed with a prolapse. I never thought I’d run again, or exercise in the ways I loved again. It can often feel very hopeless. It hasn’t been a quick journey, and certainly been up and down. But I can honestly say I’m stronger now than I think I’ve ever been. I’ve worked with so many women who feel this way, but we work on a plan, we keep the hope and it may not always look how we expected, but we find a way back to feeling like you. So I will keep sharing this message, as I know there are so many of us that need to hear it ❤️ I don’t promise a quick fix, or an easy option, but what I would say, is there are options, there is hope & I want anyone struggling to hear that message this evening ❤️ Thank you @joonbyrd & @livehermosa for inviting me to your event. Send this to your friend who won't shut up about their Squatty Potty. 😎🤪 I'm so obsessed with mine, I even have one that folds for travel! You may be thinking...Sara, isn't this overkill? And no, it's not, here's why: 🍑 Helps your pelvic floor muscles relax When your knees are lifted, it changes the angle of your pelvis so your pelvic floor muscles can fully release instead of straining to hold tension. 🚽 Puts your body in a natural position Squatting (or a close version of it) is the position humans have used for centuries to eliminate. The stool mimics that posture so your colon straightens out and things move more smoothly. (Think removing the kink In a hose) 😖 Reduces straining Less straining means less pressure on your pelvic floor, which can help prevent issues like hemorrhoids, prolapse, or pelvic floor dysfunction over time. 💨 Supports digestion and decreases constipation When you’re in the right position, waste exits more easily. That means less backup, less bloating, and a happier gut. #pelvicfloortherapist #squattypotty #pelvicfloorhealth #colonhealth #womenshealth #menshealth

Your ribs can come back in. Even after pregnancy. Even if you’ve been sucking your stomach in for years. When your ribs stay flared or lifted, your body gets stuck in a constant “braced” position. Your diaphragm can’t move fully, which means your breathing stays shallow and high in your chest. When that happens, your nervous system tends to stay in a fight-or-flight state. When we restore rib mobility and teach the ribs to stack back over the pelvis, a few powerful things happen: • Your diaphragm can move fully again, allowing deeper, slower breaths. • Your pelvic floor and deep core start working with your breath instead of fighting against it. • Pressure inside your core is managed better, which can reduce strain on the back and pelvic floor. • Your nervous system shifts out of survival mode and into a calmer, parasympathetic state. This is why improving rib position can help with things like back pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and even feelings of anxiety. And it’s not just a postpartum thing. Years of sucking in your stomach or holding tension through your core can create the same pattern. The good news: your body can relearn a better way to breathe and move. Save this to try the exercise later, or share it with someone who needs this. 💛

The 5 complete core elements everyone should know about! 😮🤯🙌🏾 Pelvic Floor Glutes Abdominals Lower back Respiratory system For anyone that likes to know the facts: Pelvic Floor: the most talked about element of core rehab but it’s really only one piece of the puzzle 🧩 If you notice any pelvic floor dysfunction (for example incontinence) please know that it’s not just the pelvic floor that can be the cause of your symptoms. It could be that your pelvic floor muscles are working well but your glutes, posture, breathing pattern, even your jaw and feet can effect it’s function! Glutes: Pretty much the pelvic floors BFF, the two work so closely together! If you over clench your glutes, chances are your over clenching your pelvic floor also. Plus, clenched glutes can pull your pelvis out of optimum alignment, making it harder for your core to function efficiently! We want glutes that can activate well but that can also release when needed! ⚖️ Abdominals: there are actually 4 layers of your abdominals. The deepest layer, the TVA (transverse Abdominis), works so closely with the pelvic floor. If you have any Diastasis Recti (abdominal separation) it’s also exercises that target the TVA that we want to focus on to help support and rehab any weakness along the front abdominal midline. Lower Back: for some reason many people seem to have fear around working their lower back but we want to strengthen our trunk from a 360 degree perspective and that includes lower back movements. The bridge (like in exercise 1) is a great place to start engaging the entire core, including your lower back. Respiratory System: yes, that right. Your breathing has a very real impact on how your core functions! 🫁 Getting our breathing co-ordination right during movement will affect how our pelvic floor activates. Exhale and draw up your pelvic floor, to garner power and support. And when you inhale relax and release your pelvic floor. The exercises in this video target all of these aspects of core function! Enjoy ☀️👍🏾 and any questions just post below! #stronglikemum #coreworkout #coretraining #activeatanyage #postnatalworkout #perimenopausehealth
