Artist: @lb.allix Plot Party Day 5/5 Drops Shape Thanks Michelle @dirtalleydesign @penplotart for this Plotparty ! While testing a Fine Line Painting Pen, used in calligraphy, I noticed it makes a drop for a point. This works especially well for this theme. In theory it seems simple, but in practice with a plotter it is quite tricky to handle. It is the 0.7 mm model not the 0.5 mm. After a few tests it can be mastered but the learning curve is steep just to get the drops. For the liquid, it must be the consistency of water to leave drops only in contact with the sheet. Too viscous like acrylic and it does not flow or flat, too liquid like pigmented ink (always with a thinner) and it flows continuously. I used very diluted black watercolor in a tube on 300 gr paper. The SVG drawing is in halftone with dots spaced sufficiently so that they do not join together forming a large puddle. The hardest part is to refill the small tank with a pipette during the drawing before there is no more liquid, because with the pause button it can stop in contact position and then the whole tank goes down on the sheet. 75% at the eye of the tank and not whole not too fast otherwise it leaks. (10 refill for a A4) A little adjustment on the speed of movement and descent of the pen to adjust. I must admit that for a finished drawing there were some big failures, like filling the tank next to it, touching the drops while drawing, filming instead of filling, clogged pen... good luck! It takes half a day to dry and the drops disappear, leaving just neat black circles. Next idea, filling with different colors as you go to get a gradient. I find that writing down the time for my project with a fountain pen it helps me slowing down, which is one of my goals in my art journey. Each line, curve, angle and dot is having a purpose. I can feel them more deeply and take much more joy in what I’m doing. And this can be and it is a way of looking at life too. In times such as ours where the speed and hustle, making/having more and more each time, is the pinnacle of our society, I think slowing down and taking pleasure in the simplest of things and moments, is needed for our human nature. Even though we are highly intelligent creatures, our brains aren’t made to receive and process such amounts of information the way we do it today. My point is, do your best to take pleasure in the mundane things and understand their importance. Slow down from time to time, even if it is for just one minute. For anyone curious about it, I’m using Kakimori ink (pigment ink) in a Sailor Pro Gear Slim fountain pen F. #conceptart #contemporaryart
