THA visit to a 1500 yr old temple with the largest temple pond in Kerala? Sign me in!
This stunning Temple Pond is located beside the Peralassery Subramanya Temple.
It’s just about 14 km from Kannur, and honestly, don’t miss this if you’re visiting Kannur.
Those perfectly symmetrical steps and the calm green water pull you in instantly. I can’t swim, but I don’t fear heights… so yes, I had way too much fun climbing up and down the steps around the entire pond 😄
But if heights make you uneasy, this might feel a bit intense, so take it slow and don’t try anything risky.
I’ve loved exploring stepwells in Rajasthan and Gujarat, but most of them are restricted for safety, so you can’t really walk around them. This felt different, being able to actually experience the space up close.
What makes this place even more fascinating are the legends.
One story says the temple was consecrated by Lord Rama during his return from Lanka.
Another says this pond never dries up, no matter how harsh the summer gets.
And some believe the design itself holds deeper spiritual meaning.
Which one is true? No one really knows… maybe that’s what makes it special.
