Reflecting on a conversation with my former coach from Australia, he once shared the 4️⃣ main factors that drive athletes to continue their athletic journey. 1️⃣ some athletes are pushed by their parents, who encourage their participation. 2️⃣ athletes often identify strongly with being an athlete, sometimes even linking their sense of self-worth to their success, making it difficult to let go. 3️⃣ some athletes continue because they haven’t discovered an alternative path or passion outside of sports. 4️⃣ there are those who simply love the sport and find joy and happiness in it. Personally, I believe we may experience aspects of each stage throughout our journey, but it’s crucial to remember that the decisions we make shape our future. No one can force us to live a certain way; ultimately, it’s up to us to create the life we desire through the choices we make.
