💪 The brachial plexus is a complex network of nerves that supplies the upper limb (shoulder, arm, forearm, and hand). It originates from the spinal nerve roots C5–T1.⚕️ 🔷 Structure of Brachial Plexus It is organized into 5 parts: 1. Roots (C5, C6, C7, C8, T1) These are anterior rami of spinal nerves Give branches like: Dorsal scapular nerve Long thoracic nerve (supplies serratus anterior) 2. Trunks Upper trunk → C5 + C6 Middle trunk → C7 Lower trunk → C8 + T1 3. Divisions Each trunk splits into: Anterior division (flexor compartment) Posterior division (extensor compartment) 4. Cords Named according to their relation to the axillary artery: Lateral cord Medial cord Posterior cord 5. Terminal Branches (Major nerves) Musculocutaneous nerve → flexors of arm Axillary nerve → deltoid, teres minor Radial nerve → extensors of arm & forearm Median nerve → most forearm flexors, hand Ulnar nerve → intrinsic hand muscles 🔷 Functions Motor → movement of upper limb muscles Sensory → skin of shoulder, arm, forearm, hand #anatomy #medical #physiology #viral #instagood

Deep dive into the complex world of axillary anatomy! This visual breakdown shows the intricate relationship between the muscular structures and the vital neural pathways of the brachial plexus. For any clinician, understanding these spatial relationships is the key to mastering manual therapy and nerve gliding techniques. When we visualize the layers we are working on, our clinical outcomes reach a whole new level. What’s your favorite technique for releasing the axillary fold? Let’s discuss in the comments! 👇 #anatomyart #manualtherapy #massagetherapy #shoulderpain #neurology

👉A brachial plexus injury occurs when the network of nerves that runs from the neck through the shoulder and down the arm (called the brachial plexus) becomes stretched, compressed, or torn. 👉These nerves control movement and sensation in the shoulder, arm, and hand. Depending on how severe the injury is, symptoms can range from mild weakness or numbness to complete loss of function in the arm. 1️⃣Standing next to a wall, place your palm on it with your fingers pointing down and your arm straight. 2️⃣Gently bend your neck to the opposite side until you feel a mild stretch through your arm, shoulder, and the side of your neck. 3️⃣Hold the position for a few seconds, then slowly return to the starting position. This is a nerve stretch designed to help with nerve mobility rather than muscle flexibility. 👉This exercise could help improve mobility of the nerves involved in a brachial plexus injury. It gently glides the nerves through their pathway rather than stretching them aggressively. 👉It should always be done within a comfortable range, avoiding any sharp or worsening pain. If someone is dealing with a brachial plexus injury, it’s important that these types of exercises are guided by a licensed healthcare professional who can tailor them appropriately to the individual’s stage of recovery. #physiotherapy #viral #trending #popularity #fyp #dr_saba_irshad_abbasi #proudphysio #physiotherapist

💥The Brachial Plexus💥 . The brachial plexus is a network of nerves that extends from the neck down to the arm. . It is responsible for controlling the muscles of the arm and hand. It also transmits sensory information for the upper limb. . The brachial plexus is made up of the anterior rami of the spinal nerves C5, C6, C7, C8, and T1. . Impingement or compression of the brachial plexus can occur in various locations, leading to symptoms such as pain, weakness, or numbness in the arm. . Common areas where the brachial plexus can become impinged or compressed include: . 👉🏼Thoracic Outlet: This can occur between the collarbone and the first rib. . 👉🏼Cervical Region: Compression at the base of the neck, often due to issues with the cervical vertebrae. . 👉🏼Axilla (Armpit): Compression can occur in the armpit region, known as the quadrilateral space. . 👉🏼Arm, Forearm or Hand: Nerve compression can happen along the path of the brachial plexus in the upper arm, forearm, or hand through abnormal joint position or muscle tension. . Injuries or conditions like thoracic outlet syndrome, cervical radiculopathy, or brachial plexus neuropathy can lead to these issues and affect the function of the brachial plexus. . The brachial plexus is a bundle of nerves which stem from the neck and travel down to the hands. This is Manual Adhesion Release™ of brachial plexus nerve entrapments causing burning, tingling, and numbness into the arm and hands. As you can see nerves are intricately wired through/around other tissues which makes them susceptible to entrapments (stuck to muscles by adhesion). Even without neurological symptoms (burning, tingling, numbness) nerve entrapments will increase load/tension. This is because the body compensates to protect its "electrical wiring." There is no range of motion test for brachial plexus nerve entrapments. However, you can try this to see if you feel excessive tension and/or burning, tingling, numbness into your shoulder, arm, or hand. Slowly flex your head to one side (ear to shoulder), now drop the opposite shoulder downward. What did you feel? Try the other side. If this test created symptoms on the opposite side of flexion in your neck, shoulder, or arm you likely have nerve entrapments due to adhesion.
