I referred to it as eczema here for simplicity. I wear long sleeves which helps me avoid scratching it during the day, but once the sleeves come off the scratching is in full force. Or you could just call it sunlight allergy. And the prescription for this condition included topical anti inflammatory creams and wait for it…. A denim jacket. Did you know that denim is one material that blocks nearly 100% of the UV rays?? Pro tip – if you have a sun allergy wear a denim jacket everytime you step out, preferably an oversized one, so that you dont feel sweaty and you can flip the collar up and the cuffs out to give that extra bit of protection!! Yup it happened!! And it happens to a lot of people and some how people don’t talk about it much. The UV rays are really high in North America because pollution is negligible. I spent around 40 days in North America mostly roaming around on foot in scorching sun which I don’t do in India at all. While I did use Indian Sunscreen and Moisturiser but they do jack shit to protect your skin. I got PMLE : Polymorphic Light Eruption. In lay man’s term it’s Sun allergy due to over exposure of sun. It initially caused painful rashes and later on left white and dark patches on skin. There was a time during the trip when I wanted to pack my bag and simply come back . I felt depressed and I was mostly hiding my face under caps and side profiles. I did see two dermats in India . The one in Kolkata didn’t even tell me what I had and asked me to do a peel worth 25k and prescribed some meds. Luckily I was in Delhi for some work so I met a Doc there. She explained the entire situation to me and guided me to the correct process of treatment now I’m healed and can laugh about it . Given how obsessed I’m with skin care in general this was a very traumatising experience. Also if you are going abroad just use dermatologically tested medicated sunscreens. All those fancy stuff just doesn’t work. #pmle #northamerica #newyork #toronto #skincare

I love this sunshine & hotter weather but my skin is rebelling 😫 I thought I had heat rash or prickly heat but after discussing my itchy bumpy rashes with a dermatologist it turns out it’s PLE - Polymorphic light eruption. Basically an allergic reaction to the sun 🫠 Sweating also sets off my eczema especially in my armpits so it’s not good times for me right now. I’ve been considering getting botox under my arms as it’s meant to help with sweating. Has anyone had this done? Imagine being allergic to the sun & your own sweat but loving the sunshine 🥲 ad-pr product: I’m an #Aveeno #wellnesspioneer but this isn’t part of the partnership. I’ve actually had this menthol lotion in my stash for ages & I’m so glad I pulled this out recently as the cooling action is exactly what my irritable skin needs right now 🙌🏼
